According to a new survey, students’ safety has become a big problem. Now in some cities of China, many schools start a new lesson: self-protection. Students like this lesson because there are no exams or boring classes. And they can learn how to save lives and know how to stop danger before it really happens.
Lin Li, a teacher from Yantai, gives young students some advice on how to deal with danger.
If you are in a traffic accident
If a car hits you, you should remember the car number. If it is a bicycle, try to call your parents before you let the rider go. This is because you don’t know how seriously you are hurt.
If it is raining hard and there is lightning
Don’t stay in high places and stay away from trees.
When there is a fire
Get away as fast as you can. Put wet things on your body and try to find an exit. Don’t take the lift.
If someone is drowning
If you can’t swim, don’t get into water. Cry out for help.
Remember that danger is never as far away as you think. Take care or yourself at all times!
If you are robbed (搶劫)
Keep calm. If you can not cry for help or run away, give the robber your money. Try to remember what the robber looks like and tell the police later.

Have you ever complained (抱怨) why life is so tiring? Does the sky sometimes    dark to you? Are your lessons sometimes not successful? Well, friends, cheer up and      all the time. If you see the world with your warm heart, you will find the whole world smiling to you..
Not long ago, a friend of mine decided to read a lot of books to get      knowledge. So he went to the library and     happily with several books. But after a few days, he felt bored. The idea of finishing all of the books seemed     , because it was     for him to sit quietly to read a whole book. He didn’t know what to do. Then one day, he suddenly thought of “Why not make reading fun?” It gave him      again. Reading is a journey of spirit(心靈之旅). Every time when we     a book, we are actually talking     the writer. Since then, he tried to spend more time reading books, so he could feel all of the writer’s happiness and sadness. And reading is    boring, but kind of interesting.
Attitude can make a great     . Someone once said, “    the situation is bad, people are free to choose their attitude.” So, don’t complain about the situation. It helps     . For example, one day the weather is fine. You and your friends want to go for a picnic. Just before you go, it  suddenly starts to rain. Maybe you would feel very      and start to complain about the weather. But dear friends, why  don’t you sit down and listen to the free concert that the nature brings you? And with the timely rain, crops(莊稼) in the fields will grow better and farmers will have a good harvest (收成).
Attitude decides everything. With an optimistic (樂(lè)觀的) attitude, life is easy and happy. Let’s smile to     we meet and the whole world will smile to us.

In April, 2013, I visited Yangzhou.
Ge Garden is very beautiful and peaceful. The ticket has a map on the back of it that I didn’t noticed until I had already left. But to be honest, I don’t think that map is very useful because it isn’t very clear an tailed. In my opinion, it’s better to improve it. Compared with He Garden, the map on the back of the ticket for He Garden is much clearer, more detailed and more useful. However, in the room that has the picture of the family members, there is only Chinese, no English, so my advice is to add English in interesting places. I got lost in the Slender West Lake. I spent about 30 minutes just trying to get out of one area. I think they need more signs posted along the trails. I like the Slender West Lake best, as she is so pretty! The ladies that were sweeping were very sweet. They always smiled at me and said hello, so it was nice.
Taking a taxi is the most efficient(有效率的) and quickest way to get around Yangzhou. I didn’t have a problem getting to the places which I’d like to go to while using a taxi. The driver was very friendly. The fare isn’t too high, either. But I didn’t enjoy taking the bus. The bus ride to the Mastixia Bay (茱萸灣公園) took long although I only had to pay one yuan. It was also hard finding where Bus 32 was. I tried asking some people in English but they couldn’t understand me, so I had to ask in simple Chinese that I only know buy that still didn’t work. I spent about one hour walking around the city to look for Bus 32. The tricycle(三輪車) was nice, but it was a little too expensive for a small distance. Maybe I was ripped off by the guy who rode for me, but it was an enjoyable ride. I felt like I was part of the garden city more.
Over all I am satisfied with Yangzhou and will recommend it to others.

I learned about life from an ant farm. When I was seven years old, my family created one. First, we put clean sand in a thin glass box and put the ants into it. Soon they got to work making tunnels. I was amazed that each one knew exactly what to do. With my mom’s help, I kept a record of what happened each day and named the ants.
One day when I had put my face close to the structure (building), accidentally I knocked it over, and all the tunnels fell in. Although the ants survived their earthquake, one by one they began to die. I was frightened as I watched them give up their tunnel-building to carry the bodies to a corner of the farm. My mother reported that the ants were dying of “frustration (挫折)”. They simply could not stand the reality that their tunnels had been destroyed.
Although much time has passed, I still think of that ant farm. Over the years, I came to realize the ants have the spirit of teamwork. Working together, they were able to create an amazing world for themselves. I also learned that they should be admired for their hard work. Day in and day out, each worked at their task. The ant farm showed that teamwork and perseverance (毅力) are indeed the keys to success. But there was an even larger lesson that I did not realize until recently —Adversity (逆境) is a natural part of life, and must be accepted. Unlike the ants, humans cannot give up when they face disappointment.
So I try to live my life like those hardworking ants. But, unlike them, I try not to let frustration defeat (擊敗) me. I will have to keep building my tunnels.
小題1:The family created an ant farm in a glass box because it was easy _________.

小題3:What’s the writer’s purpose of writing the passage?

小題4: What did the writer think of the ants?
A.Persistent (執(zhí)著) and friendly.
