Many young people all over the world love to travel and see the world. Have you heard of backpackers? They are normally young people who travel cheaply with just one bag and comfortable walking boots. They buy local food in supermarkets to save money and at the same time become friends with local people.
Some people prefer adventure tours. Brave people may try bungee(蹦極) jumping from the bridge overlooking the Victoria Falls in Africa with only a rope around their legs. Some enjoy the challenge of rock climbing in the Alps in Switzerland. Others may go ice skiing in the Rocky Mountains in the USA.
Have you ever heard of an ecotourism (生態(tài)旅游)? It means a holiday in which people come close to nature but are very careful not to destroy the nature beauty or living things in the area. How can this be possible? Let's read an interview with people who enjoyed a swimming with dolphins tour.
Interviewer what was the most exciting part of your holiday?
Sharon from South Africa I felt excited when I heard the sound of wild dolphins beside me in the water and then swimming directly under me. An image I will never forget.
Xavier from Portugal There were two dolphins below us swimming downwards. One stopped and looked back at me as if to say “What are those strange things?” Fantastic!
Interviewer Did you feel that your holiday helped local people and areas to keep their beautiful environment?
Jane from New Zealand The hotel and the whale and dolphin watching companies hire local people. They used to hunt those whales and dolphins, but now they can earn money from tourism and mustn’t kill whales and dolphins. Not many boats are used at the same time so these animals aren't disturbed. The boat companies also work to educate the local schools about the importance of protecting these wonderful animals.
Helen from England I am glad they are not killing the whales and dolphins any more, but the cars and boats use fuel(燃料) which could cause pollution and make the sea dirtier.
Well, what do you think? Thousands of people visit the Forbidden City or the Great Wall of China every year. Do you think that's a good thing, or do you feel that China's important tourist attractions can be affected? Are there any ways of sharing your treasures (珍寶) but keeping them in good condition?

“What is success”? Mr. Black asked his 6th grade business class. It was his opening conversation for the first class of the term.
“Success is riding in a sweet car, watching an 80-inch((英寸) TV, and living in a place with at least twelve rooms.” One student answered, earning(博得)laughs from all the students.
Mr. Black smiled, but shook his head. “Tom, that is excess(過量). That is not success.”
“How about being able to provide for your family?” A blonde girl named Sandy in the front suggested as an answer.
“Now we’re getting closer,” Mr. Black smiled, “but try thinking about what you need and what you want.”

How many things can you see in the night sky? A lot!      a clear evening you might see the Moon and some planets. And thousands of sparkling stars     , too.
You can see even      with a telescope. You might see stars where you only saw dark space before. You might see that many stars look larger than others. You might see that some stars      look white are really red or blue.
But scientists believe there are some things in the sky that we               . We can’t see them with the biggest telescope in the world, even when it is the clearest night of the year. That’s         they’re invisible. They’re the mysterious dead stars called black holes. You might find          hard to imagine that stars die. After all, our Sun is a star. Year after year we see it up in the sky, burning brightly, giving us heat and light. The Sun certainly doesn’t seem          getting old or weak. But stars do burn out and die after billions of years. As a star’s gases burn, they give off light and heat. But when the gas runs        , the star stops burning and begins to die.
So the next time you stare up at the night sky, remember: there’s more in the sky than that meets the eye.        amazing space it is!

We were driving in the right way when suddenly a black jeep jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver had to stop the car at once, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car started shouting at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy, and I mean, he was really friendly.

Many people have a fear(害怕) of public speaking. According to a study, it has an influence on 3 in every 4 people. This fact is surprising and worrying, as most jobs require some speaking ability. The following will help you to make a speech better.
Write note cards. Write main ideas on your cards. Don’t write details. Put in some fun facts, questions, and other activities on the cards to share with the class. Don’t look at your note cards for a long time while speaking. If necessary, you’re only going to want to have a quick look at the card for information, not read every last word.
Smile at your class. When it comes time to speak, there’s nothing that draws your class into your speech than a good old-fashioned smile. Be happy, because you’re about to teach your class something they didn’t know before. Studies have shown that smiles are infections. That means once you smile, it’s hard for everyone else not to smile. So if you want your speech to go off well, smile. That’ll make everyone smile and maybe those smiles will make you actually smile.
Make eye contact. Nothing is more boring than listening to a speaker who looks at the floor or at note cards. Relax. Your class is made up of your friends and you talk to them all the time. Talk the same way now. have a look at every person in the classroom at least once. That way, everyone will feel like you’re communicating with them. Also, you’ll look like you know what you’re talking about.
Use hand motions. Move your hands along as you talk, using them to express your key points and keep the class interested. It will also lead your nervous energy into a better place.

When disaster (災難) happens, you might find yourself without water, gas and electricity. You might even need to leave your home right away. So you are supposed to plan for the bad situations before the disaster comes. Here are some suggestions:
First, have a family meeting. Plan a way to get your family members together if they can't find each other after the disaster. Choose two places for everyone to go to if it isn't safe to return home. The first should be near your house. You can go there in an emergency(緊急情況) like a fire. The second meeting place should be outside your neighborhood.
Next, choose a person outside your area who can help your family get in touch with each other. After a disaster, it is often easier to communicate over a long-distance call than a local one. The person can pass messages between your family members.
Then, get a family disaster kit ready. It should include things your family needs. It can help you survive (生存) at least for three days like bread, water, medicine and things like that. Put them in a bag so you can carry it if you leave in a hurry. When doing it, remember that different people have different needs.  Include special things necessary for elderly or young members of your family.
