Success does not belong to a select group of individuals(個(gè)人). Success belongs to those who are willing to go after it and try their best to do what they have to do. Here are some useful practical ways for you if you want to be a success.
Desire. Desire is the strong wish to achieve a goal. Without desire you have nothing. Before you can run with desire, your goal must be plain, clear, and it must also be exciting.
Show up. Seventy percent of success in life is showing up. You can’t have a best seller, if you have never written a book. You can’t get your dream job, if you’re afraid to turn in an application. Showing up doesn’t guarantee(保證) success, but if you don’t show up, you won’t succeed.
Fail. Unless you’re willing to have a try, fail unhappily, and have another try, success won’t happen. To have success you have to do things the right way, but often the only way to do something right is to first fail at it. As Thomas J. Watson said, a simple formula(公式)for success is to double your rate of failure (失敗). So welcome failure, become a student of failure, learn from failure, and soon you will succeed.
Work Harder. Everyone runs, but everyone is not willing to run for an hour every day. Success is not about doing what the common person can’t do. It’s about doing what the common person is unwilling to do. And on a deeper level, it’s about creating habits that the common person is unwilling to create. It’s the habit of doing things with excellence that causes success.
Enjoy the Journey. Success is a journey, not a destination(終點(diǎn)). Success is not a certain car or a certain house or a certain happy marriage. Success is the enjoyment of the journey. You have to enjoy the journey.
Someone once said, “Unless you change how you are, you will always have what you’ve got.” You have to change…you will change, you will succeed.

There were two men who lived next to each other. One of them was a teacher and the other was a doctor. Both of them had planted many different plants in their gardens. The teacher seldom watered his plants and didn’t pay a lot of attention to them. But his neighbor was very careful with his plants and watered them often.
The teacher’s plants were small, but still looked okay, while the doctor’s plants were much bigger and greener. One night, there was heavy rain and wind. The next morning, both of the neighbors came out to check on their gardens. The doctor saw that his plants had been ripped from the ground and were destroyed. But the teacher’s plants were not damaged at all but stood firmly.
The doctor was surprised. He went to ask the teacher. “We both grew the same plants and I cared for my plants better than you did. How could your plants still be okay?” The teacher smiled and said, “Because I gave my plants just a little bit of water, so their roots had to grow deeper to absorb(吸收) more water. If you travel by air across the center of Africa or South America, you fly over forests for thousands of kilometres. These great forests are the seas of trees. They are full of thousands and thousands of different kinds of plants and animals. However, the world's forests are getting smaller all the time.We are cutting down the trees because we need wood, and we need more farmland as well. Some people say that there will not be any forests like these left in 20 to 30 years. What will happen if they disappear?
