Do you know crosstalk? It's also known by its Chinese name xiangsheng. It is a famous Chinese show in the form(形式) of a dialogue usually between two people. It came into being in Beijing in the late Qing Dynasty (the mid-19th century). It began as a form of street show, and it also borrowed from other arts, such as Beijing Opera. No matter what the form is, the crosstalk show just wants to make people laugh.

Crosstalk is one of China's most important and popular performing arts. Modern crosstalk usually has four skills—speaking, imitating(模仿), teasing(逗樂) and singing. Some stories come from everyday life, popular ideas and hot news. Some come from history stories. During the show, sometimes one actor is angry with the other because of their different ideas. Crosstalk is full of fun with singing, different sounds, musical instruments, and even crying. So if something makes you unhappy, you can enjoy crosstalk.

The view you hold for yourself greatly affects the way you lead your life. It can decide whether you become the person you want to be and whether you achieve the things you value. But doesn’t our society value IQ, personality, and character? Isn’t it normal to want these qualities? Yes, but ...

There’s another mindset, the growth mindset, which is based on the belief that your basic qualities are things you can develop through your efforts. Although people may differ in every which way — in their inborn talents, interests, or characters, everyone can change and grow through efforts and experience. Did you know that Darwin and Tolstoy were considered ordinary children?
