【題目】—Do you know____________ —To protect our only home--the earth.

A.how we should live a green lifeB.why should we live a green life

C.why we should live a green lifeD.whether we should live a green life

【答案】C

【解析】

句意:——你知道為什么我們應(yīng)該過(guò)一種綠色的生活?——為了保護(hù)我們唯一的家園——地球。

考查賓語(yǔ)從句辨析。how we should live a green life 我們?cè)鯓舆^(guò)一種綠色的生活(陳述句語(yǔ)序);why should we live a green life為什么我們應(yīng)該過(guò)一種綠色的生活(疑問(wèn)句語(yǔ)序);why we should live a green life為什么我們應(yīng)該過(guò)一種綠色的生活(陳述句語(yǔ)序);whether we should live a green life我們是否應(yīng)該過(guò)一種綠色的生活(陳述句語(yǔ)序)。根據(jù)下文To protect our only home--the earth“為了保護(hù)我們唯一的家園——地球”,不定式作目的,可知,空格處是詢(xún)問(wèn)“為什么我們應(yīng)該過(guò)一種綠色的生活”,從句意上排除AD選項(xiàng)。

Imagine this: Your parents go away on business, but you have to stay at home alone.

Would life be as easy as when your parents are around? Would it be a perfect holiday for you?

“I can feed myself with tomato and egg soup, but that’s all. I think many of my classmates are the same. We wouldn’t know what to do, or how to look after ourselves.”said Zheng Chenyu. “And I’d forget things easily. I’d probably watch television and burn the soup.”

“Now parents do almost everything for us. We’re very lazy in housework,” she said.

Most teenagers only have time for their homework. They don’t learn any life skills until they go to college. However, Sima Yige doesn’t think so.“ I think I’d be all right. 【題目】When my son, Mark, was in the third grade, he saved all his pocket money for over three months to buy holiday presents. The third Saturday in December Mark said he had made his list and had twenty dollars in his pocket.

I drove him to a nearby supermarket. Mark picked up a hand basket and went in while I wailed and watched in the car. It took Mark over 45 minutes to choose his presents. Finally he came to the checkout counter (交款處) and reached into his pocket for his money. It was not there! There was a hole in his pocket, but no money. Mark stood there holding his basket, tears falling down his face.

Then a surprising thing happened. A woman came up to Mark and took him in her arms. "You would help me a lot if you let me pay for you," said the woman. "It would be the most wonderful gift you could give me. I only ask that one day you will pass it on. When you grow up, I would like you to find someone you can help. When you help others, I know you will feel as good about it as I do no."

Mark took the money, dried his tears and ran back to the checkout counter as fast as he could. That year we all enjoyed our gifts almost as much as Mm-k enjoyed giving them to us.

I would like to say "thank you" to that very kind woman, and tell her that four years later, Mark went house to house collecting blankets (毯子) and clothes for the homeless people in the fire. And I want to promise her that Mark will never forget to keep passing it on.

1When did the story probably happen?

A.On Christmas Day.B.Before Christmas Day.

A.Because she bought Mark a nice present.

B.Because she always paid money for others.

C.Because she collected clothes for the homeless.

D.Because she taught Mark to help people in need.

5What’s the best title for this passage?

A.A big supermarketB.A kind woman

【題目】閱讀下面短文, 在表格內(nèi)的空白處填入合適的答案(每格限填一詞)。

Some parents think grades should disappear. In their opinion, grades don’t say much about which skills a student has developed in learning. Parents only get part of the information about students’ study. The grade C in Math could mean a student might still do badly in division (除法). It might also mean a student hand in his or her homework late. The teacher’s comments ( 評(píng)價(jià))give more information.

But not everyone likes the idea of grade-free report cards. Some parents don’t want the change. They know an A is good and an F is bad. Teachers’ comments are not so direct. There’s also another problem. Without grades, how would students prove that they are doing well at school?

Two students share their opinions on which system is more meaningful.

Benje Choucroun: Grades are outdated(過(guò)時(shí)的). The letters and numbers on report cards send the wrong message. They turn school into a game. The goal becomes getting As or high marks.

What’s more, a bad grade can hurt your confidence. And it doesn’t give you advice about how to improve. Instead of focusing on grades, students should pay close attention to teachers’ comments. They will help students to improve. Think about this: Grades have been around for more than a hundred years. Isn’t it time to try something new?

Gabrielle Hurd: Grades let parents follow their kid’s progress at school. A parent can see the improvement from a C in Math on an early report card to a B on the recent one. A grade of C lets parents know their child needs more support, and an A shows skills. If schools don’t use grades, parents have to read teachers’ comments first. It takes a long time to read teachers’ words carefully. After that, they can get to know how their child is doing. As we all know, reading comments is not as easy as reading a grade. If your child wants to enter a senior high school that wants top grades, teachers’ comments may help, but the school may still need to see grades on a report card.

【題目】 It was Sunday again. Paula and Emily disliked Sundays. That was one of the many things the twins had in common. They shared the same clothes and tied their hair in the same way. In fact, it was sometimes hard for their teachers and classmates to tell the differences between them.

Unlike their classmates, they had to get up early at seven every Sunday to prepare for their lessons. Paula had to attend the art class and Emily had to attend her dancing class. Both of them had learned their own classes for three years. “How I wish I could do something different today!” said the twins with one voice. All at once, a wonderful plan came to Paula and Emily at the same time. After giving each other a description(描述)of their own teachers and classmates, Paula put on Emily’s dancing dress while Emily put Paula’s things for painting into her bag. Then they left for their classes.

When the art class started, Emily felt lost. Unlike Paula, Emily was poor at drawing. When the art class finally ended, Emily didn’t dare to hand in her work.

Meanwhile, Paula was struggling(掙扎)in the dancing class as well. As she had no idea about the dance steps, she had to follow her classmates blindly. As a result, she kept walking into them. Their dancing teacher became a little bit angry with her, “Emily, you should remember the steps. You can’t depend on copying what others are doing.”

When Emily and Paula got home, they were tired out. They decided that they would never try to be someone else they were not. It seemed that “the grass was not always greener on the other side of the fence (籬笆)”.
