Now satellites are helping to forecast(預(yù)報(bào)) the weather. They are in space, and they can reach any part of the world. The satellites take pictures of the atmosphere(大氣), because this is where the weather forms(形成). They send these pictures to the weather station. So the scientists there can see the weather of any part of the world and tell how the weather will change.
Today, nearly five hundred weather stations in sixty countries can receive satellite pictures. When they receive the new pictures. When they receive the new pictures, they compare(比較) them with the earlier ones. Perhaps they may find that the clouds have changed during the last few hours. This may mean that the weather on the ground may soon change, too. In their next weather forecast, they can tell people about it.
So the weather satellites are of a great help to the scientists at the station. In the past they could forecast the weather for about 24 or 48 hours earlier. Now they can make good forecasts for 3 or 5 days. Soon, perhaps, they may be able to forecast the weather for a week or more ahead.
1.The weather forms ________.
[ ]
A.in any part of the world
B.in the atmosphere
C.in space
D.on the ground
2.Changing clouds in the atmosphere means ________.
[ ]
A.a(chǎn) rainy day
B.a(chǎn) windy day
C.that the weather will change
D.a(chǎn) sunny day
3.Without satellites, scientists could forecast the weather for ________ ahead.
[ ]
4.The main(主要的) idea of this passage is that satellites are now used in ________.
[ ]
A.taking pictures of the atmosphere

D.weather forecasting
剖析: 1.這是一道特定細(xì)節(jié)題,要準(zhǔn)確理解原文.依據(jù):the satellites take pictures of the atmosphere(大氣),because this is where the weather forms(形成).2.這也是一道細(xì)節(jié)題,考查對(duì)原文的理解能力,依據(jù)是第2段最后兩句話:This may mean that the weather on the ground may soon change, too. In their next weather forecast, they can tell people about it. 3.這是詞義解釋,B.1or 2 days與第3段中的:in the past they could forecast the weather for about 24 or 48 hours earlier.相同. 4.這是要確定主題中心思想題.需要對(duì)全文加以概括、總結(jié). |

I felt very sad not to be able to get the ticket for the film “Titanic” last Friday. I learned in the newspaper that tickets could be bought at the cinema box office (售票處) in Richland Hills any day between 10:00 and 4:00. Since I work from 9:00 to 5:30, the only time I could go to the cinema was during my 45-minute lunch time. It is a pity that the cinema is on the other side of the town, and the bus service (服務(wù)) between my office and Richland Hills is not very good. But if you are lucky, you can make the round trip (行程) in 45 minutes.
Last Monday I stood at the bus stop for fifteen minutes, waiting for a bus. By the time I saw one come around the corner, there was not enough time left to make the trip so I had to go back to the office. The same thing happened on Tuesday, and again on Wednesday. On Thursday my luck changed. I got on a bus right away and arrived at the cinema in twenty minutes. But when I got there, I found a long line of people at the box office. I heard one man say he had been waiting in line for over an hour. I found that I would not have enough time to wait in line. I caught the next bus and went back across the town.
By Friday I understood my only hope was to make the trip by car. It was expensive, but I felt it would be worth it (值得) to see the film. The trip by car only took 10 minutes, but it felt like an hour to me. When I reached the cinema, I was delighted to see that nobody was waiting in line. But I quickly found out that it was because they had already sold all the tickets.
1.It seems that the writer of the story works ________.
[ ]
2.He tried to go to the cinema every day but really got there ________.
[ ]
3.The word “delighted” in the sentence “I was delighted to see that nobody was waiting in line.” may best be replaced (替換) by ________.

4.Which of the following was TRUE according to (根據(jù)) the story?
[ ]
A.The writer was too busy to have time for a rest during the day.
B.The buses running between his office and Richland Hills were always on time on Thursday.
C.He couldn't buy the tickets any day both before and after work hours.
D.It always took him about twenty minutes to get to the cinema by bus.
