Do some colors make you feel calm while others give you energy? Scientists have studied the connection between color and mood (心情) for a long time. Many believe that color can influ-ence our moods.

Warm, bright colors such as yellow and red are positive colors. They can give people a pleasant feeling. Cool colors such as blue, purple, and green are relaxing colors. They help people experience calm feelings.

Many public places are decorated (裝飾) with certain colors in order to create certain moods. Orange makes people feel hungry, and many restaurants are painted in this color.

People use color in their homes to create moods as well. Blue is a peaceful color. It helps you rest,so it is a very good color for a bedroom.

Colors can create bad moods, too. Some types of blue make people feel sad. Red can make people feel angry.

科目:初中英語(yǔ) 來(lái)源: 題型:

By my fifth grade,I was a kid who felt unsafe, unloved and pretty angry at life. In other words,I behaved badly in school. However,my teacher Miss Simon of course thought that I was blind to this problem because she always reminded me, “Henry, you are the worst behaved child in this school!”

Needless to say,the fifth grade was probably the worst year of my life. Good thing was that I was allowed to go to the sixth grade. But Miss Simon's words were always ringing in my ears.

The first day I entered the sixth grade,my teacher,Miss Brown, began to call our names, and it wasn't long before she came to my name. “Henry,” she called out, looking from her list to where I was sitting. She looked at me carefully for a moment, and then said ,“I've heard a lot about you." Then she smiled and added , “But I don't believe a word of it!”

To be honest, that moment was a turning point, not only in my education, but also in my life. Suddenly, unexpectedly, someone believed in me. For the first time in my life, someone saw potential (潛力) in me. Miss Brown often gave me little jobs to do. She invited me to stay after school to work on my reading and math. She challenged me to let her down. So I studied really hard that even my own father coudn't believe that I was changing.

What made the difference between the fifth grade and sixth grade? It was that someone was willing to give me a chance, someone was willing to believe in me while challenging me with higher expectations. That was risky, because there was no promise that I would honor Miss Browns trust.

Everyone likes the end product of teaching, especially when it produces excellent men—the sports star, the successful business person, the smart lawyer. But how many of us want to deal with the person at the beginning of the process?
