The next time you sit down to a delicious dinner, ask yourself, “How much food will I be able to eat?” If you think about only taking as much food as you can eat, it will help cut down on waste. Every day, a large amount of food goes uneaten and ends up in the garbage. This is very sad considering that many people can’t even afford to have one meal every day. The problem of waste happens all over the world. People often feel the need to spend more than they can manage. This often results in waste and it can be a big problem. However, there are many things that we can do to help cut down on garbage and waste.
The most important thing to remember is to be friendly to the environment. Only take as much food as you can eat, buy things in environment friendly packaging such as paper or cardboard, and leave garbage in its proper place. If every person could cut down on waste, even just a little, the overall effect would be great.
Garbage and waste can be a big problem in large cities. If garbage or food is left in the streets, it can make the city dirty and may also lead to a bad smell in the streets. We all need to be responsible to clean up this problem and make the city more pleasant.
It is impossible to get rid of waste completely, but we can greatly reduce it. No one is perfect, but if we pay more attention to what kinds of effect our waste has on the environment, we can work together to control the problem.

Subject: Help! Date: 21/ 10/ 2006 10:02 a. m.
Dear Aunt Aggie,
I’m having a problem with my classmate, Rena, at school. The other day I wrote an e-mail to another classmate, Beth, in which I said some things about Rena that perhaps weren’t very nice. Unluckily, when Beth was writing back to me, she accidentally forwarded(無(wú)意間轉(zhuǎn)發(fā))the message to Rena! Now Rena is really angry with me and won’t talk to me, and Beth is unhappy as well. She’s said sorry to me a hundred times already, but the harm is done. I feel bad, because I never would have said those things to Rena’s face, but how can I get her to forgive(諒解)me? What should I do?
Joe
To: Joe@ heinfo. net From: Aggie@ yahoo. com
Subject: Some advice Date: 22/ 10/ 2006 10:45 a. m.
Dear Joe,
This problem is more common than you might think! E-mail is very useful, but also very dangerous, as you don’t know where your message might end up! First of all, you should say sorry right away to Rena. Explain that it was a mistake, and that you didn’t mean to hurt her feelings. It may take time for her to be able to forgive you, but that’s up to her. Then you might want to do something nice for her. Perhaps send her some flowers to show that you’re truly sorry. Also, you should remember that old saying: “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. ” And good luck!
Aggie
