【題目】D. Answer the questions(根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容回答下列問題)
Happiness is a feeling that lights up your eyes, makes your steps light and makes you want to sing for no reason. Everyone wants to be happy. But sometimes, a guest comes in without invitation. It’s unhappiness. Don’t let it get you down. Send it away!
When you are happy, the world feels like a better place. As a saying goes: When you smile, the world smiles with you; when you cry, you cry alone. Wearing a smile will make you more charming and help you to win lots of friends. A good mood always gives you hope, which makes trouble and problems easier to handle.
No matter how happy you are, it’s normal to feel angry, sad or gloomy once in a while. Life is full of ups and downs. We can’t change the way life is, but we can do our best to change a bad situation into a good one. To help us do this, it’s good to know some of the factors(因素) that influence happiness.
One of the biggest factors is social relationships. People who are close to family and friends are happier than people who don’t have those relationships. Talking and sharing is a good way to relax and build confidence. Knowing someone is there for you will make you braver and more outgoing.
Another factor is work or school. If you enjoy school, even if you have lots of homework or extra classes, you will still feel that your school life is meaningful and happy. But if you hate school, your negative (消極的)attitude may cause you to feel bored and upset that you have to do so much work.
A third factor is your attitude(態(tài)度) towards life. How do you feel if you fail in an exam? Maybe you think it’s unfair because you always study hard and should have got a good mark. You can’t stop blaming (責(zé)備) yourself. Or, maybe you accept it. You go through the paper carefully, find out why you made stupid mistakes, and tell yourself, “Take it easy! I’ll do better next time!” Your attitude makes a big difference.
Do you smile a lot or wear a long face most of the time?

【題目】 Many of us have feelings of loneliness as we grow up. As a teenager, just eating alone in the dining hall can’t be acceptable, and girls even go to the restrooms hand in hand. They fear being called a “l(fā)oner”.
In these cases, we might use the word “l(fā)oner” in a disapproving (不贊成的) way. However, it can actually have a positive meaning as well.
It all depends on our attitude toward being alone. If we see being alone as something not very good, we will be against it. But if we understand that it’s an everyday part of life, we’ll be able to “hug the beauty of our solo (單獨(dú)的) journey”, as best-selling US writer Mandy Hale wrote in her book The Single Woman.
In some countries, more young people are choosing to be loners. In South Korea, “honjok” has become a growing lifestyle. The word comes from Korean “hon” (alone) and “jok” (group). These people eat alone, travel alone, and enjoy being by themselves. “I hope it grows into a self-supporting culture of happiness.” said Jang Jae Young, a South Korean who runs a website about this solo lifestyle called www.honjok.me.
In Japan, people have developed a strong “l(fā)oner culture” and even a “l(fā)oner economy (經(jīng)濟(jì)).” There are many solo KTVs and solo coffee bars. Noodle restaurants for solo customers are especially popular. There are boards which separate each seat. Customers fill out a form to make an order, and then press a button to call the waiter. They don’t see the faces of other customers or waiters.
People are becoming more experienced in and comfortable about being alone. This doesn’t mean we should totally keep ourselves away from the outside world, of course. But it doesn’t hurt to have some “me time” once in a while.
【1】From the passage we know that “honjok” ________.
A.means a group of lonersB.is a culture which brings people closer
C.is a website run by a KoreanD.will be a popular lifestyle in North Korea

【題目】 In English, when someone is very angry we say this person “sees red”, like a bull goes wild after seeing a red cloth. Now it turns out that “seeing red” is not just an expression for angry people, but also a scientific fact.
Researchers at North Dakota State University in the US found that there is a connection between the color red and anger. Angry people really do “see red” where others don’t. And a preference for red over blue may even suggest a more hostile personality.
The study includes a number of experiments. In the first, researchers asked a group of people which color they preferred, red or blue. Participants (參加者) then did personality tests. Results showed that those who chose red tended to be more hostile.
During a second test, participants looked at faded images that could be regarded either red or blue. Those who saw red scored 25 percent higher on hostility in the personality test.
“Hostile people have hostile thoughts; hostile thoughts are connected with the color red, and therefore hostile people see this color more frequently,” the researchers told The Independent.
Finally, the participants were told about imaginary situations in which they could take different actions. Results showed that in these situations, red-preferring people were more likely to show that they would harm another person than those who preferred blue.
“An important message from this research is that color can send psychological (心理的) meaning,” the researchers said.
Where does this connection between the color red and anger come from? Scientists said it might be a matter of evolution (進(jìn)化). In ancient times, poisonous plants and insects could cause wounds and bleeding. So it may have become instinctive (本能的) for people to link the color red with danger and threats.
【1】“Seeing red” is not just an expression for angry people, but also a _______.
A.legend storyB.funny joke
C.scientific factD.useful suggestion
【2】The underlined word “hostile” in the second paragraph means_____.
A.unfriendlyB.popular
C.upsetD.cheerful
【3】During a second test, those who saw red scored 25 percent ______ on hostility in the personality test.
A.lowerB.higher
C.moreD.cheerful
【4】In the final test, the participants were told about ______ in which they could take different actions.
A.faded imagesB.the true information
C.the same experienceD.imaginary situations
【5】Which of the following is NOT true about the study?
A.Participants did personality tests in the study.
B.Participants took three tests in the study.
C.Participants were tested on seven different colors.
D.Blue-preferring people were less likely to harm others.
【6】What does the last paragraph mainly talk about?
A.It tells us scientists’ new findings.
B.It explains why red is connected to anger.
C.It tells us the importance of evolution.
D.It shows us the poor living conditions of ancient people.
