Schoolwork is sometimes difficult, but I don’t think it’s  ever boring. We get lots of interesting projects to do.

Sometimes,a project is just a long article. In English class,we write articles and speeches about things that happened in history. In science class,we once built bridges using only toothpicks(牙簽)and candy! I love projects like that.

Projects are a big part of our grades. So,it’s very important whether you are good at the project or not.I am bad at building things. So,when I was asked to build a model,my grade for that whole term Was low. However, when asked to draw a picture of myself, I Was able to save my terrible art grade.

Projects can make people wonderful leaders, too.I was once working on a speech with another boy.I did most of the work, typed it up and printed the pictures. He didn’t do much.At first.I was very angry, but then I realized that I had never asked him for help or told him what to do!

I've noticed that projects make people act in many different ways. Some people know clearly what to do.Others can end up having problems. The most interesting type of person I have seen.is someone who didn’t start working until a few days or hours before the project’s deadline(最終期限).One of my friends didn’t write down his Birthday Project Speech;he made it up as he talked. It Was great! Not everyone can do that though!

1.T he writer thinks whether you can get good grades or not depends on

A.the skills that the projects ask for

B.what you’ve learned from the books

C.how much work you have put in

  D.both A and C

2.We can tell from the story that the writer is good at          .

  A.making speeches B.building models C.drawing pictures D.making up stories

3.The main idea of the story is that      .

  A.projects are always interesting

B.projects are important and useful for students

  C. projects are important for one’s grades

D.projects’deadlines make people nervous

 4.The word“project” in the article means     .

    A.成績(jī)    B.方案    C.工程    D.專題研究

You may not have heard the words “freshman fifteen” before, but they are very important for students who are entering university. A freshman is a first-year college student. “Fifteen” refers to fifteen pounds—the fifteen pounds added to a student’s weight in his or her first year. There are a number of reasons why first-year university students gain (增力n) weight; but it’s encouraging to know that freshmen don’t have to add these harmful fifteen pounds.
Mistakes choosing food
University kitchens serve(供應(yīng))many kinds of food. Some students choose unhealthy food, because now their parents are not nearby to help them choose. Some students visit the kitchen many times while studying. Late at night, some students get harmful fast food such as fish and chips with Coke to drink. Students also have less time for walking, running, and doing sports because of their schoolwork.
Eating right

Now you’ve finished three years of English study. There’s one way to demonstrate(展示)what you’ve learned-take a test!

Do you have any special methods(方法) you use to help you do better on a test? How well you do is often a matter of how well prepared you are. Here are some ways to make sure you’re at your best on test days.

Go to bed early. The night before a test is not the time to stay up watching TV. You want to be rested and wide-awake for test day.

Have a good breakfast. Test day isn’t a morning for donuts(面包圈).Nor is it a time to starve yourself. Eat plenty of low-sugar, high-energy food to keep your brain and body working their best.

Be prepared, Make sure you have two pencils and anything else you were asked to bring.

Watch the numbers. Make sure that the number of the items(項(xiàng)目)on your answer sheet matches the number of the question.

Look over all the answer choices(選擇). Don’t assume(假定)that choice A is correct until you’ve checked the others. You may find a better one. And it is wrong to eliminate(排除)any choice that you can see at once. You’ll have a better chance of finding the right answer.

Check the clock. Make sure you allow yourself enough time to answer every question and go back and check your answers .Don’t spend too much time on any difficult question .Skip(跳讀)it and come back to it later.

Do you want to know anything about ma staying in America? Well, Let me tell you the truth, it is really an eye-opening experience to study here.

In China, I had English classes five times a week since the fifth grade. However didn’t know textbook English was very different from everyday English until I came to Hotchkiss School, Connecticut.

When I first studied English, I was told to say,“I am fine” when people say “How are you?”But in the US, I found that people say,” I am good” or “I am tired.”

One day, someone greeted me with” What’s up?”It made me confused. I thought for a moment and then smiled because I didn’t know what to say.

Since then, I have discovered more and more differences between Chinese and the US cultures.

To my surprise, the US girls spend a lot of time in burning sun getting a tan (曬黑). However, in China, girls try every possible way to get their skin paler(白的).

I am also surprised by how hardworking the US students are. In China, schoolwork is almost everything, so we study hard all the time. But here, an “excellent” student gets good grades, does a lot for the public and plays sports or music .The kids here are so talented ,I am starting to be sorry that I gave up playing the piano at an early age and that I have never thought about sports.
