A thief who dropped a winning lottery ticket(彩票) at the scene of his crime has been given a lesson in honesty. The man who was robbed picked up the ticket, then won the £25,000 prize, managed to look for him, and handed over the cash.
The robbery happened when maths professor Vinicio Sabbatucci, 58, was changing a tyre (輪胎) on an Italian motorway. Thanksgiving Day was near. A first grade teacher gave her class a tun task——to draw a picture of something for which they were thankful.
Most of the students didn’t come from rich families, but many would still celebrate the holiday with turkey and other traditional goodies of season. These, the teacher thought, would be the subjects of most of the students’ art. And they were, for the most part.
But one student named Douglas drew a different kind of picture. Douglas was a different kind of boy. He was often sad. While other children would play with each other during break time, he would stand closely by his teacher’s side. There was pain behind his sad eyes. But what was it? One could only guess.
Yes, his picture was different. He drew a hand. Nothing else. Just an empty hand.
Other children started to guess whose hand it could be. One child guessed it was the hand of a farmer, because farmers raise turkeys. Another suggested a police officer, because police keep people safe. And so the discussion went on.
Finally the teacher walked over to Douglas’ desk, bent down and asked him whose hand it was. The little boy looked away and said, “It’s yours, teacher.”
She recalled the times when she had taken his hand and walked with him here and there. How often had she said “Take my hand, Douglas, we’ll go outside” or “Let me show you how to hold your pencil.”
Douglas was most thankful for his teacher’s hand.

Earthquakes usually come without warning. What should you do if this happens to you? An earthquake is dangerous, but there are still things you can do to protect yourself.
Stay calm as the earth begins to shake. Your chances of survival in an earthquake go up if you can keep calm. Staying calm is not easy, but it can save your life.
If you are inside when the earthquake starts, get under a table or a bed. You need to have something strong around you to protect you from falling objects. Do not stand near walls and windows and stay out of the kitchen. The kitchen is dangerous because of many glass objects.
If you are outside, get to an open area as fast as you can. Stay away from buildings and trees. If you are in a car, pull over to a place where there are no trees or tall buildings and stay in the car. If you are close to the sea, try to get as far away from the water as possible. Earthquakes can cause huge waves(浪) that can really harm the people nearby.
