Sea otters（海獺）off the coast of California have an unusual method of getting food. They dive to the floor of the sea to find the shellfish（貝）they like，no matter how deep the sea is．

When an otter brings a shellfish to the surface of the sea water，he floats on his back and put the shellfish on his chest．Then the otter manages to dig the meat out of the shell with his sharp teeth．

Sea otters are especially fond of shellfish with a very hard shell．When the otter brings one of these，he also brings a stone．He puts the stone on his chest，holding the shellfish in his paws（爪）．He gives a good beat and breaks the hard shell on the stone．Then he has no trouble getting the meat in the hard shell．
