If you go to London, you will see a lot of buses and cars on the road. You will also see lots of bikes because more and more people travel by bike. There are a lot of reasons for this.First, it's not expensive to buy a bike and it is quick, too.You often have to wait for a bus for half an hour. After you get on the bus, there are so many other buses and cars on the road that the bus moves very slowly. The underground train is quick but often crowded.
I traveled to work by bus for about four years.I often arrived at work late and tired. Then one day, about two years ago, a friend of mine said, “I go to work by bike every day. Please come and join me.” “But my bike is old, and there are so many buses and cars on the road.I'll feel frightened,” I answered.“You needn't feel afraid. If you follow me and we ride slowly, you will be fine,” he said.
The next day I bought a new bike.Although we went slowly, we arrived at work soon.It took 40 minutes to go by bus, but only half an hour by bike.
Now I love riding a bike to work.I arrive at work quickly and I've saved a little money, and more importantly, I feel healthy. Many people think my idea is good and maybe you will see more bikes on the road in the future.

BBC World Have Your Say: “ Life in China” Every day, BBC News on TV,radio and online brings you stories from across the world. But what we want to hear are the stories that matter to you. Have got a story about life in China today? If you do, please put your stories here. |
I like travaling and I have traveled a lot around China. During the trip, I often find that a number of Chinese don’t have good pulic manners(舉止). They always loudly on the phone and smoke everywhere. The worst is that they often break the rules in public. For example, when I travled in HongKong in January this year, I saw a kid eating noodles on the underground , which is against the rules. However, the kid’s mother didn’t think he did wrong. Can you believe it? Let’s improve our public manners. (Mike, Shenzhen) |
I am a 14-year-old boy from a poor village in Fuyang , Anhui Province. Like many other left-behind children(留守兒童)in China, l live with my grandparents now. my father went to work inn Shanghai several years ago. Last year, my mother went there to care for him because his health is not as good as before. They tell me to listen to my grandparents and call me about twice a month to ask about my study. I really miss my parents ans I hope I can afford to go to school in Shanghai. I think every child needs parents’ love and care. (Wu Peigen, Anhui Province) |
