In high school, the last year may be the most difficult but also the most important. Students are encouraged to work even harder and consider the universities they want to go to. In fact, working hard in that year has a great influence on which universities they will enter after they graduate from high school.
In the first term of my last year in high school,I did a good job on my study. I got up early every day and never left my homework until the last minute, and had a great amount of confidence to finish my high school with good grades. In my notebook I wrote down the grades I aimed to get;I often looked at them to encourage myself. I took part in tests online every day and went to the teachers for help regularly. I also had my elder sister help me with my English. My grades were getting better and better and I really finished the first term with great grades.
However,I did not keep my outstanding performance in the second term before my graduation. I tried playing a game on the Internet when I was bored one day. Gradually,I spent more and more time playing online games, because I was addicted to them. Therefore,I went to bed late, copied my classmates' homework often and could hardly learn anything. My final grades were surely not as great as I expected.
When I did graduate,I decided not to go to the graduation ceremony (畢業(yè)典禮) ,not for the grades I finally achieved, but for the idea that I wouldn't be comfortable if I were asked to receive my diploma (文憑) in front of my classmates, teachers, parents and guests. At last,I stayed at home and played computer games instead of going to the ceremony.
It has been many years since I graduated from high school. Even now,I still regret (后悔) not working hard in the last term in high school and not going to my graduation ceremony.

The barks of dogs surrounded (圍繞) me as I walked into the animal shelter. They ran around their cages jumping up and down. My heart became soft when I saw these poor animals. I entered the building and saw more unwanted animals. A white rabbit jumped around in its cage. I walked around the cages, saying "oh" and "ah" to every animal,as they looked out of their cages, waiting for love and help. A little dog particularly attracted me. She was as gentle as a baby. I slightly touched her head as she sat on the floor. She licked (鉻) my hand with appreciation. I could feel that she longed for an owner who would take good care of her.
Another small group of little animals were in the cage in the corner. They stayed together to keep warm. One of them let out a weak sound,as if it was calling to its mother. Recognizing my love and willingness (樂意) to help these little animals, the director suggested I give them a bath. I lifted one of them,Yukie, from his brothers and sisters. His black fur was as soft as cotton candy. I held him carefully in my hands. The sweet smell of soap surrounded the wash area. The little dog looked like a tiny fish, swimming happily in a pool. Water dropped down his black soft ears as he tried to shake off the heavy water. I covered Yukie with a towel so he wouldn't get a cold. After all the cleaning and drying,he looked as if he came from an expensive pet shop. I kissed his little face as I unwillingly placed him back.
Next,I walked some dogs around the building. When I opened the cages, they jumped out quickly, unable to hold back their urge for exercise. I ran around with them, touched them gently and talked to them.
It was time to leave. I quietly said to these poor animals that I would come again and look after them with love. The sad eyes and the faces of these lovely animals made quite an impression on me.
