Audrey Hepburn won an Academy Award as Best Actress for her first major American movie, Roman Holiday, which was showed in 1953. But she is remembered as much for her help as for her acting.

Born in Belgium in 1929, Audrey’s father was British and her mother was Dutch. Audrey was sent to live at a British school for part of her childhood. During World war Ⅱ, she lived and studied in the Netherlands. Her mother thought it would be safe from German attacks. Audrey studied dance as a teenager and during college. But when she returned to London after the war she realized she wasn’t going to be a ballet dancer. So she began taking acting parts in stage shows. Later she began to get small parts in movies.

But it was Audrey Hepburn’s move to America that made her truly famous. In 1951 she played the character “Gigi” in the Broadway play Gigi and won popular praise. Two years later, Roman Holiday made her a star at the age of 24.

Audrey made more than 25 movies. Among her most popular roles was “Hoolly Golinghtly” in Breakfast at Tiffany’s in 1961. Three years later she played “Eliza Doolittle” in My Fair Lady. She was married twice. In 1989, the UN Children’s Fund named Audrey a goodwill ambassador. She travelled all over the world in support of UNICEF(聯(lián)合國(guó)兒童基金會(huì)) projects. The UN agency said she was a tireless worker. She often gave 15 interviews a day to raise money and get support for UNICEF projects.

Audrey Hepburn often said her love to UNICEF was the result of her experiences as a child during World War II. She said she knew what it was like to be hungry and to be saved by international help. She was a goodwill ambassador until her death in 1993 from cancer.

Happiness Ks not far away

Happiness comes from the little things in life.Simple ways in our daily life often help the most.It is not a dream for you to make it come true but a shining star that guides you and a mirror that shows you the meaning of life in the world. If you feel that happiness does not come to you, here are the following steps which will lead you there.

To yourself

Start by treating yourself kindly and becoming your own best friend.

Give up trying so hard to become someone else who is not yourself right now. It's better to just be you.

To your life

Walk in the park or along the street with a pet.Balance your life with activities and a good rest.

Play and do those activities which gently nurture(滋養(yǎng)) your own mind.Playing in your garden or filling your home with beautiful flowers is not a bad try and the memory of those flowers will be always carried with you.

Smile as you think about the future. If you smile, you can not have negative(消極的) thoughts!

Concentrate on the positive(積極的) in this world, and look for joy.

To your work

Work hard and make efforts to reach your goals, and reward yourself when you are done.

Remove the task that is not useful. We are learning that doing too many tasks at the same time just doesn't work.

Try writing down what is troubling you, discussing your trouble with yourself. The science now shows that as you write your troubles, your brain will change for the better.

By writing a daily thanks diary you will feel the positive memory and experiences once more, and by remembering these moments, your levels of happiness will rise.

To your friends

You can write a "happy letter" to your family and friends every day.Just a short note will do.You can do the following:

Monday: Write a thank-you note to your friend.

Tuesday: Write a short letter to your friend about a good moment you have recently experienced.

Wednesday: Write about a nice moment you plan to experience in the future.

Thursday: Write a letter to someone that is important in your life.

Friday: Write three things that went really well today.

Saturday and Sunday: Go on with your daily thanks diary.

If you pay attention to all that is good in your life instead of negative thoughts, happiness will become a natural Dart of your day!
