5A new car(which was) out of control broke down on Renmin Road early in the morning.

【解析】

1根據(jù)句意可知,這句話的主語是Many foreign people許多外國人,謂語動詞部分使用了一個句型find it +形容詞+to do sth.“發(fā)現(xiàn)做某事是的”,it是形式賓語,動詞不定式to learn Chinese well是真正的賓語,形容詞difficult作賓語補足語。

2這句話中使用了兩個句型,be considered as/to be…被認為是,后面跟名詞;one of the +形容詞最高級+名詞復(fù)數(shù),“最的之一”。根據(jù)句意可知,這句話說的是一個客觀事實,應(yīng)用一般現(xiàn)在時,故be動詞用is;the most beautiful是最高級,最漂亮的。

3根據(jù)句意可知,這句話應(yīng)用現(xiàn)在完成時,表示從過去一直到現(xiàn)在的情況,“一直以來”,主語The restaurant是單數(shù),故用has always been famous;be famous for是固定短語,以而出名;all over the city是固定短語,全市。

4doubt質(zhì)疑,懷疑,是一個動詞,后面跟了賓語從句,根據(jù)句意可知,這里表示否定的意思,“不質(zhì)疑”,因此賓語從句的引導(dǎo)詞用that;have a gift for天賦,是固定短語,主語Zhang Li是單數(shù),故用has,后面跟動名詞playing the violin作賓語。

5out of control失控,是一個固定短語;break down拋錨,壞掉,是固定短語。時間狀語是early in the morning表示過去的事,用一般過去時態(tài),break變?yōu)檫^去式broke;on Renmin Road是地點狀語。

【題目】What does your face say?

How many different emotions do you think you can communicate to people with your face? Do you have the same facial expressions as people from different cultures?

New research suggests that there are only four basic facial expressions of emotion. However, how these expressions are understood might depend on where you are from.

Research by scientists from the University of Glasgow has challenged the traditional view of how the face expresses emotions. Until now, it was widely believed that six basic emotions — happiness, sadness, fear, anger, surprise and disgust (厭惡), were expressed and recognized across different cultures. However, the University of Glasgow’s work now suggests that the human face only has four basic expressions of emotion. This is because some pairs of emotions are impossible to distinguish, especially when they are first expressing on the face. Fear and surprise, for example, both share wide-open eyes. The facial expressions for anger and disgust also look the

same.

So if our faces are only able to express four basic emotions, how do we communicate more complex (復(fù)雜的) feelings? The study found that the way expressions are explained is different in different cultures. Lead researcher Dr Rachael Jack was studying this because “facial expressions were considered to be general”, she explains. However, while looking at how people from the East and West look at different parts of the face during facial expression recognition, they found that although there are some common characteristics across cultures, the six basic facial expressions of emotion are not recognized by everyone.

“We said we don’t know what a disgust face looks like in China, so the best way to go about that is to make all combinations (組合) of facial movements and show to Chinese researchers and ask them to choose the ones they think are disgust faces.”

With the software they developed, they discovered that in the early stages of signaling emotion, fear and surprise, and anger and disgust, were often confused. Jack explains that these facial expressions have developed both from biology and social evolution(進化).

What interests people about the cross-cultural aspect of the research? “This work leads to understanding which emotions we share, realizing our differences and calling attention to our multicultural experiences.” This research could advise new ways of social communication that improve cross-cultural interactions.
