(1) I was only an 11-year-old girl when my parents told me that we would soon move to America. We were on the bus then.Iwascry-ing,and some people on the bus were turning around to look at me.I remember that. I could not bear (忍受) the thought of never hearing the radio program for school children again which I listened to every morning.
In fact,1 think I cried very little when I was saying goodbye to my friends and relatives. When we were leaving,I even felt a little excited because I thought about all the places I was going to see—the strange and magical places T had known only from books and pictures.
The first four years in America taught me the importance of optimism ,but the idea did not come to me at once. For the first two years in New York I was really lost—having to study in three schools and 1(2) most of my time ( 2 ) learning the English language.I hardly had any time for fun. Sometimes I did not quite know what I was or what I should be. Mother remarried (再 婚) ,and things became even harder for me.It took me some time to get used to my stepfather (繼父) . 1 was often sad,and saw no end to “the hard times”.
I had to do many things for the family since I knew English better than everyone else at home.I wrote letters, filled out forms, translated (SI ) all kinds of information and took my grandparents to the doctor and translated there.

Passage 5 (2015江蘇宿遷泗洪適應性考試,六)
閱讀下面短文,根據(jù)短文內容填寫表格,每空限填一詞。
Mistakes are great teachers.Success comes to you if you are willing to risk making mistakes. You may achieve your goals and wishes, and you can also learn from those mistakes. And in order to learn from mistakes, you must be willing to pay for them.
Mistakes can be of great value, but when you try to get others to pay for your mistakes, then you will lose the chance to learn from them. When something goes wrong,it’s usually very easy to find someone else^ mistakes, but that is not useful.
Much of the value of mistakes comes from the fact that they need a cost that must be paid. The person who learns the most from a mistake is the one who pays the price for that mistake.
When you make a mistake, what you shouldn’t do is to run away from it.You need to accept it because you can learn a lot from it.The mistake has been made,so make the most of it. Pay the price, learn the lesson, and you will grow much stronger.
After you make a mistake,don5t look back at it long. Remember the reason for it,and then look forward.Mistakes are lessons of wisdom. The past cannot be changed. The present is still in your power. Make full use of your mistakes to achieve your goals and wishes.
