D. Get enough sleep

E. Realize you're not alone

Do you ever find yourself getting really unhappy for almost no reason? Or suddenly feeling down without knowing why? Going from sadness to anger to joy in a matter of minutes can make many teens feel as though they're losing control.

Here are some things you can do that might make those bad moods a bit easier to deal with.

______1. Although not every teen experiences mood changes to the same degree, they are common.

_______2. Friends can help each other by realizing that they're not alone in their feelings. Talking to parents is important, too. Parents can share their own experiences dealing with bad moods. Teachers are often good resources and a doctor can help to answer questions about development.

_______3. Though it can be hard to find enough time, getting enough rest is very important. Being tired can lead to more sadness.

_______4. Taking part in some kinds of activities, like building something out of wood, or starting an art or music piece. Writing can help you organize and express your thoughts and feelings. Get your thoughts on paper. Do the same thing with paint, music, or other art forms. Put your feelings into your artwork. .

5. Can you come up with another way to make yourself in a good mood?(不少于5個(gè)單詞)

No one knows when the first house was built and who the first one to build the house was. But the houses are changing all the time.

1. What will the house of the future look like? Could it have gardens on its walls, or a pool with fish for diner? Architects(建筑學(xué)家) believe that they may come true one day. The only thing

for sure is that the houses will be as green as possible in the future.

2. Many architects in the world would like to build a house like a leaf—the surface of the house collects sunlight during the day. The energy can be used to heat water, produce electricity, and even make fresh air for the room. The “roof” (根) of the house is deep under the ground. It uses the soil to control the room’s temperature.

3. Like a lizard(蜥蜴), changing color with the weather is the most important design of a lizard house. When it’s in the bright sun, the cover of the house will return white to protect it from strong heat. During dark days, it turns dark and takes in as much light and heat as possible to produce energy.

4. This design is perhaps for the future of food. It has a garden on the outside wall of the house. People can plant tomatoes, carrots and green tea on them. So every morning, you just need to walk outside and collect your meals.

5. Looking to the future isn’t the only way to be green. Sometimes, the old ways of building houses can also help cut down energy use. For example, a chimney(煙囪) can be a useful air conditioner because it is easier for hot air to run out of the chimney.

A Learning from the past

B Meals at home

C The lizard house

D Houses in the future

E The tree house

F The history of the houses

My dad was a plumber(水管工) for the public works department in our town, so from time to time he came into my school. Can you imagine sitting in class and seeing your dad walk past the door of your classroom and wave his hand at you? In junior high?

One girl in our class always made fun of me because my dad was a plumber and hers was a lawyer(律師), and she would say things like, “Ew, that’s gross(粗俗的)!” I must admit I was sometimes embarrassed by what my dad did, especially in my early teens, when the only thing I really cared about was what the other girls thought.

The girl lived a few streets away from us, and one winter day---the day her elder sister was getting married---the toilet in their main upstairs bathroom broke and there was water everywhere. Her father, the lawyer called every plumber in the Yellow Page, but nobody would come and because we were having a major snowstorm. Her daughter told him that my father was a plumber, and he called, and my dad went right over---and took me with him.(Maybe he was hoping that the lawyer’s daughter would be nicer to me.) My father fixed the toilet, help them clean up everything, and didn’t take much time for his trouble. But as we were leaving, he told the girl, “If I ever need a lawyer, I’ll be happy to call your dad.”

As we walked to our car, he said to me, “Do you believe he didn’t know where the main shut-off valve(閥) was? What a dumb ass!”

From that point on, her dad was known in school as Lawyer Dumb Ass.

When my husband and I bought our house, the first thing my dad showed him was the main shut-off valve.

I have always been proud to say that I’m a plumber’s daughter.

1.When her father came to her school and walked past the classroom door, the writer might feel ________.

A.pleased B.embarrassed

C.disappointed D.proud

2.The girl’s attitude towards the writer can be best described as ________.

A.unfriendly B.doubtful C.kind D.gross

3.Why couldn’t the lawyer find anybody to fix the toilet on that winter day?

A.He had little money

B.All the plumbers were too busy to come

C.There was a major snowstorm and nobody would come out

D.One of his daughters was getting married and the house was in a mess

4.From the passage, we know the followings are right EXCEPT _______?

A.The writer’s father thought the girl’s father was stupid.

B.In the writer’s early teens, the only thing she cared about was what her dad did.

C.The writer’s father spent only a little time fixing the toilet.

D.What the other girls thought troubled the writer when she was in junior high.
