Since the very first time a Girl Scout(女童子軍) rang the doorbell at Ciana Sparks' house, she has known her destiny (命運).
Destiny is about what you were meant to do.But sometimes you get tile opportunity to do what you dreamed of.
"The Girl Scouts would come up to our door to sell cookies.I always wanted to be one of them," Sparks said. That was ten years ago.Since then, American Girl Scout Sparks, now 16, has been living her dream of selling cookies.She has sold a lot of them.
"I sold 1,209 boxes.The year before that, I sold 800 boxes," Sparks said. She was one of 23 girls who sold more than 1,000 boxes.She has a simple way of selling the cookies.
"I usually start around my neighborhood.I call some of my relatives who live Out of town.I go to my mom's work.Then I do the booth sales."
Sparks says a personal touch helps.She doesn't just send the order sheet(訂貨單).She goes there and does the selling in person.And she always wears her Girl Scout uniform, or a cookie costume.
"You have to remind people that you can only buy them once a year, and you want to buy as many as you can-or else you'll run out," Sparks said.

The store owner Liu Min says in order to meet the need of people who want to buy things online but can't use the internet, she started the business of offline buy-for-you. In only about ten days since the start of the business, she has received more than 20 orders from customers (顧客). Liu Min is not the only one who finds the large need of offline buy-for-you business in the market. In Dalian city, northeast China, more than 300 such stores opened their doors only in April.
In order to attract more customers, they have opened their shops in residential communities (居民區(qū)). And they charge a suitable service fee. For example, when buying things that cost less than 200 Yuan for customers, they usually charge 5 Yuan as service fee.
Though the offline buy-for-you service makes it easier for certain people to shop online, what if there is any problem with the ordered thing, let's say, like a quality problem? The shop owners say they will deal with any quality problems that may happen when using their Daigou service.

Food waste has become a big problem in China.
Zhou Jinsong, a canteen(食堂) manager at Central South University, said that students produce over 12 barrels(桶) of leftovers every day — each barrel stands at one meter in height. Zhou’s canteen is just one of several on the campus.
According to Xinhua News Agency, the food wasted by Chinese people equates to about 50 million tons of grain every year, or 10 percent of the country’s total annual grain production. This food could feed another 200 million people. What students waste every year could feed over 10 million people. Students nowadays are well protected by their families and hardly know how hard farmers work to provide them with the food they eat.
“Since the 1980s, when Chinese gradually became richer, food waste has been a subject of debate. But things have hardly changed over the years,” said Yu Changjiang, a sociologist at Peking University. “It’s the Chinese way of showing respect to friends, often referred as Mianzi.”
But rather than tradition, huge public spending on government banquets(宴會) is also causing food waste, said Zhou Xiaozheng from the sociology department at Renmin University of China. “It’s the result of widespread reception meals at government levels. It is also important that everyone thinks about how they can do their best to reduce food waste.”
