It's time for school! But on May 14th, 170 students at Duncanville High School in Texas, US, were told to go back home.

Why? Because they were wearing the wrong clothes to school.

Schools in the US don’t always ask students to wear uniforms. But they have dress codes (著裝要求). For example, Duncanville High School tells students to wear belts, shirts without logos (標(biāo)識).

Schools’ most-hated (最討厭的) clothes are different.

In 2011, the saggy ( 松垮 的 ) trousers law was passed in Florida. It stops students from wearing trousers that show body parts.

Now, "the favorite new target ( 目 標(biāo) ) of the school dress code" is leggings( 緊 身 褲 ), reported the Associated Press. Some schools don't allow leggings. Other schools ask students to wear a shirt or a skirt over leggings.

Some students complain (抱怨) that schools are going too far(做得太過分) .

But schools say dress codes help protect students’ safety and make sure they grow up with good taste (有良好的鑒賞力).

"We want to teach them that they must meet the expectations (期望) not only here in school, but also outside school," said Andre Smith.

Have You Planned Three Things to Do Before You Are 18?

I know most of us have a long way to reach an adult. At present, are you bored with your daily life? Here are some things you should try before you are 18,because after that it’s too late.

Learn to swim

Seriously, this is so important that it can save your life. If you can’t swim well, you won’t be able to do water sports like waterskiing, surfing and diving. Even taking a boat trip will be dangerous for you. Make sure you do it.

Try at least one kind of team sports

Being a good team player is an important skill in life. You can’t just think of yourself, but have to work well with other people. Other advantages of team sports like basketball, football and baseball are that they keep you fit and healthy, and they are also great fun. Teams usually have a good social life too—you’ll go to lots of parties and make many friends.

Collect something

One of the best hobbies for under-18s is collecting things. You could collect kinds of stamps,or you could collect things that make you remember what you have done, like cinema tickets for films you have seen or emails from friends. The best way to collect is to have a special album to put your collection in and to write what each thing means to you. That way you won’t forget.

A. you might feel well

B. it can make you healthy

C. you might easily do lots of things

A serious problem for today’s society is who should be responsible(有責(zé)任的) for our elderly and how to improve their lives. It is not only a financial(財務(wù)的) problem but also a question of the systerm we want for our society. I would like to suggest several possible ways to this problem.

First, employers(雇主) should take the responsibility for their retired(退休的) employees. To make this possible, 1% of profits(利潤) should be left for this purpose. But when a company must take life-long responsibility for its employees, it may suffer from a commercial(商業(yè)的) disadvantage because of higher employee costs.

Another way of solving the problem is to return the responsibility to the individual(個人). This means each person must save during his working years to pay for his years of retirement. This does not seem a very fair model since some people find that it’s difficult for them to pay for their daily life without trying to earn extra to cover their retirement years. This means the government might have to step in to care for the poor.

In addition, the government could take responsibility for the care of elderly. The government could provide more money through government taxes to increase the level of pensions(養(yǎng)老金). What’s more, some institutions(社會福利機(jī)構(gòu)) should be created for senior citizens, which can help provide a comfortable life for them. Unluckily, as the present situation in our country shows, this is not a truly practical answer. The government doesn’t have enough money to care for the elderly, particularly when it is busy trying to care for the young.

One further solution is that the government or social organizations set up some working places especially for the elderly where they are independent.

In short, all these measures have advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, we are expecting to combine(結(jié)合) these measures so that we can provide the care we hope to give to our elderly generations.

Title

The elderly should be __1.__ more care of.

Topic

Who should be __2._ to improve the lives of the elderly?

__3.__ to the problem

★__4.__ should give 1% of profits to their employees, but this may cause a commercial __5._.

★Some individuals should save during his working years to pay for

The years when he is retired, but the others have _6.__ paying for

their daily life.

★More 7._could be provided through government taxes to increase the level of pensions. However, when the government is busy trying to look after the young, it can hardly _8._ to care for the elderly.

★Workplaces for the elderly should be __9._ by the government or social organizations.

Conclusion

We are expecting to combine(結(jié)合) these measures in __10.__ to provide the care for the elderly.
