not only … but … 而且……;adults成人;use使用;them它們;little children小孩子;also也;like喜歡。
when當(dāng)……的時候;her daughter她的女兒;Kelsey人名不用翻譯;only只有;two years old兩歲;she她;became interested in開始對……
根據(jù)語境及句意可知要用一般過去時;她she,在句中作主語;習(xí)慣于做某事be used to doing sth.,主語是she,be動詞用was;玩手機(jī)play the phones。 She was used to playing the phones.
Many applications on phones手機(jī)上的許多應(yīng)用程序;are designed for是為……設(shè)計(jì)的;children孩子們,who是關(guān)系代詞,定語從句修飾children;too young to go to school太小而不能上學(xué)。
他們they;不知道don’t know;是否whether;應(yīng)該should;給他們的孩子買手機(jī)buy their children phones。 They don’t know whether they should buy their children phones.

Have you seen your horse prepare for winter? Although it is getting warmer and warmer, many animals are still hibernating (冬眠). It’s too bad that humans can’t hibernate. In fact, we humans almost did.
According to Graham Robb, a British, who has studied the sleeping habits of the French farmers, in the past, farmers in France liked a half-state of human hibernation. As soon as the weather turned cold, people all over France would shut themselves indoors and practice the forgotten art of doing nothing at all for months.
Jeff Warren, a producer at CBC Radio’s The Current, tells us that the way we sleep has changed greatly since the invention of electric lighting. The business of eight hours continuous sleep is a modern invention.
When historians began studying the texts of the Middle Ages, they noticed something regarded as “first sleep”. Now scientists are telling us that people in ancient times most possibly slept in separate periods.
In the past, without the electric light, humans went to sleep when it became dark and then woke themselves at midnight. The late night period was called “The Watch”. It was when people actually kept watch against wild animals, although many of them simply moved around or visited family and neighbors.
Some sleep researchers think that a short period of insomnia (失眠) at midnight is not a problem. It is normal. Humans can experience another state of consciousness around their sleeping, which happens in the short period before we fall asleep or wake ourselves in the morning. This period can be an especially creative time for some people. The inventor, Thomas Edison, used this state to invent many of his new ideas.
Playing with your sleep patterns can be dangerous, and it will lead to worries. Medical science doesn’t help much in this case. It offers us medicines for a full night’s continuous sleep, which sounds natural; however, according to Warren’s theory, it is really the opposite of what we need.

Children can spend hours a day looking at computer screens and other digital devices(數(shù)碼設(shè)備). Some eye doctors say this leads to an increase in “computer vision syndrome(電腦視力綜合征).”
Nathan Bonilla-Warford is an optometrist(驗(yàn)光師) in Tampa, Florida. 【1】 “A lot more children come into the office either because their parents have noticed that they have headaches or red or watery eyes or discomfort, or because their nearsightedness appears to be increasing and they’re worried,” he says.
【2】 “Even if their eyes start to feel uncomfortable or they start to get a headache, they’re less likely to tell their parents, because they don’t want to have the game or the computer or whatever taken away,” he explains.
He says another part of the problem is that people blink(眨眼) less often when they use digital devices. He says, “A person who uses an electronic device blinks about one third as much as we normally do in everyday life. And so that can result in the front part of the eye drying and not staying protected like normal.”
Eye doctors offer suggestions like following the rule that is known as the 20/20/20. That means every twenty minutes you should look away twenty feet or more for at least twenty seconds from whatever device you’re using.
Other suggestions include putting more distance between you and the device and using good lighting. 【3】 Many experts say children should spend no more than two hours a day using digital devices — with no screen time for children under two.
【4】 Dr. David Hunter, from Children’s Hospital Boston, has not seen an increase in his practice. “While it is possible to develop fatigue(疲勞) looking at screens for a long period of time, there’s certainly no proof that it actually causes any damage to the eyes,” he says.
A.But not all eye doctors have noticed an increase in problems in children.
B.Many eye doctors believe that the problem is getting worse and worse among children.
C.Dr. Bonilla-Warford says part of the problem is that children may be more likely to pay no attention to early warning signs than adults.
D.Of course, another way is to spend less time looking at screens.
E.He has seen an increase in problems in children.
