What will the future be like? It’s possible that we may often fly up into space! Out of all the coolest inventions of the year 2004, Time magazine chose SpaceShipOne as the best.
SpaceShipOne is a 6-metre-long white spacecraft. On June 21, American pilot Mike Melvill flew it to space and back—about 100 kilometres up into the sky. Some might say it’s not a big success. You know, people went to the Moon years ago.
Well, SpaceShipOne is special because it is the first spaceship that wasn’t made by the government. It was built and sent up by a private US company. Lots of people want to travel in space and think that it is an enjoyable trip. But it’s too expensive. American millionaire Dennis Tito paid almost US $20 million to become the first space tourist to visit the International Space Station in 2001. So private companies began to think of making their own spacecraft to take other tourists up into space.
Certainly, the success of SpaceShipOne is a good start. In the next 10 to 15 years, if you
pay $20,000 to $100,000, you could fly high above the Earth in a special suit.
Can you imagine having your own spacecraft in your garage and taking it to space at the weekend?

Out of all the coolest inventions of the year 2004, Time magazine chose SpaceShipOne as the best可知,《時代》雜志評出宇宙飛船一是2004年最酷的發(fā)明,就此引出文章的中心,由此可知這里應填invention,名詞,發(fā)明。
SpaceShipOne is a 6-metre-long white spacecraft可知,宇宙飛船1有六米長,原文6-metre-long是合成形容詞,六米長的,做定語,修飾名詞spacecraft。
Well, SpaceShipOne is special because it is the first spaceship that wasn’t made by the government.
Well, SpaceShipOne is special because it is the first spaceship that wasn’t made by the government. It was built and sent up by a private US company可知,宇宙飛船1是由一個美國的私人工作制造并發(fā)射的,而不是由政府制造的。
Out of all the coolest inventions of the year On June 21, American pilot Mike Melvill flew it to space and back可知,在6月21號,它做了它的第一次太空飛行。
On June 21, American pilot Mike Melvill flew it to space and back可知,Mike Melvill 是飛行員,pilot飛行員。
【7】根據短文第二段中about 100 kilometres up into the sky可知,宇宙飛船1飛行到了距離地面100公里的高度,surface名詞,地面,表面。
In the next 10 to 15 years, if you pay $20,000 to $100,000, you could fly high above the Earth in a special suit.
In the next 10 to 15 years, if you pay $20,000 to $100,000, you could fly high above the Earth in a special suit.
Can you imagine having your own spacecraft in your garage and taking it to space at the weekend可知,也許在未來你可以乘坐你自己的宇宙飛船去太空過周末。

Tina was a seventeen-year-old girl who always wore a bright smile. She suffered from a disease and had to use a walker most of the time. People didn’t speak to her very often. Maybe it was because she looked______ and people didn’t know how to come near to her. Tina usually broke the ice with people she met with a big “ ____ .”
In one class, I gave the students an assignment (作業(yè)) to recite(背誦) a poem. I only made the assignment worth a very small part of their total grade since I knew most of my students would not do it anyway. In the class, one by one each student _____ to correctly recite the poem. Finally, angry and half joking, I said that the next student who ______ recite the poem had to do three push-up (俯臥撐). To my surprise Tina was next. She used her walker to move to the front of the class. ____ she recited, she made a mistake. Before I could say a word, she _____ her walker and started doing push-ups. I wanted to say, “Tina, I was just joking!” But she _____ , continued the poem and she finished the rest perfectly.
When she finished, a student asked, “Tina, why did you do that? It’s not an important assignment!” “Because I want to be like you guys! To be ____ .” Tina said.
Silence fell on the whole room when another student cried out, “Tina, we’re not normal! We are teenagers! We get in ____ all the time.” “I know,” Tina said as a big _____ spread across her face. The rest of the students laughed, too.
Tina got only a few points that day, but she got the love and respect of her classmates. To her, that was worth a lot more than a grade.
