根據(jù)“Kevin got a part in the play. 凱文獲得了劇中的一個角色,由此可推斷,這里表達(dá)的是,“但是里克落選了”,也就是在布告里沒看到自己的名字,結(jié)合選項,故選D。

5句意:“我確定做”,里克自信地說。

sadly傷心地;confidently自信地;doubtfully懷疑地;worriedly擔(dān)心地。根據(jù)“Rick was so happy…”可排除A、D;由“I sure do”表示肯定的意思,可排除C,故選B。

6句意:演出的時間到了,當(dāng)他的朋友凱文表演時他在舞臺的一邊看著。

watched觀看;interrupted打斷;noticed注意;complained抱怨。結(jié)合選項和句子“as his friend, Kevin, said his part of the play”,可知,因為里克不能上臺表演,所以他在舞臺的一邊觀看著他朋友在上面的表演,故選A

We have four chickens: Peanut, Cookie, Ice-cream and Potato. My husband Andrew made a beautiful coop(籠子)for them together with our kids.

He gave some tools to the kids because he believed it was important that they could really make something. Then, he slowly helped them. The kids made the mistakes of learninga board cut too short and hands cut by knivesbut in the end, Andrew did some tricks and the coop looked perfect.

The chickens love their perfectly imperfect home and we like to let them run around the yard freely. Yesterday, we needed to go to the city center, knowing that the chickens won't go very far. When we got back, my son, Gordon, ran to check on them. There were Peanut, Cookie and Potato, looking a mess. Ice-cream was nowhere to be seen.

We searched around the yard and found lots of feathers(羽毛). By this time, Gordon's eyes got watery. Ice-cream was his favorite chicken.

Andrew picked Gordon up and held him in his arms. As we stood there, accepting that we were now a three-chicken family, we heard ita soft clucking sound. Andrew put Gordon down and they looked under the bush. There was Ice-cream, a half-naked(半裸的)chicken. She looked strange, but she was totally fine. Andrew carefully picked her up and returned her to the coop.

The next day, Andrew had a meeting with the kids. The kids believed that the chickens should stay in the coop, safe from everything that may hurt them. Andrew disagreed. He believed that we should be more careful, letting the chickens out when we were in the yard. He encourages our kids to take risks. 【題目】 What do you do if you are in trouble on a lonely island? Surely you need to find a way to get in touch with the outside world. Your best chance of doing this is to draw the attention of a passing plane.

Body signals

Pilots from different countries understand body signals if they have the correct training. When you wave your arms up and down in a straight line, it means “yes”. When you point downwards and swing your arm from side to side, it means “no”. If you want the pilot to know that it's safe to land, push your hands in front of you and bend your knees. If you want to say it's not safe to land, put your arms in the air and move them to one side.

Smoke signals

The smoke from a fire can be seen from far away, so it's a good way to draw attention. If the weather is dry, it isn't hard to start a fire. Remember, however, the fires can be very dangerous if they get out of control. Never light a fire unless you are sure that it can't spread. If the ground is dark, light smoke can be seen more easily. Green grass and leaves produce light smoke.

Ground-to-air signals

It's a good idea to build some signals, too. Use large pieces of wood to make the symbols. If you can't find any wood, use earth. Some useful symbols are

F“I need food and water.”

II“I need medicine.”

I“I am badly hurt.”

X“I am unable to move from here.”

Pilots' replies

If the pilot lowers the plane's wings from side to side, this means “message received and understood”. (At night, the pilot flashes the plane's green lights.) If the pilot flies the plane in a clockwise (順時針方向的) circle, this means “message received but not understood”. (At night, the pilot flashes the plane's red lights.)

However, there is no signal which means “message not received”.

1Which picture means “it's safe to land”?

A.B.

C.D.

2What can you use to build Groundtoair signals on a lonely island?

A.Wood or earth.B.Grass and leaves.

C.Wood and leaves.D.Sand or grass.

3What can we know from the passage?

A.Swinging your arm from side to side means “yes”

B.Light smoke can be seen easily if the ground is dark.

C.You can make a symbol “I” if you need some medicine.

D.The pilots send out a yellow lights at night.

A.The explanation of body signals on an island.

B.The importance of making signals on an island.

C.Ways of living on a lonely island.
