Doctors have studied sleep for many year. It is reported that people have five stages of sleep and that people may go through each stage about every ninety minutes. During the first two stages, you sleep lightly. That is, if someone calls you or puts his hands on you, you wake up quickly. Your body rests quickly. Your heart beats slowly. You breathe(呼吸) more slowly than when you are awake.
During stages three and four, you sleep deeply. You don't hear sounds. Lights don't wake you up. Your heart beats more slowly than in stages one and two. The last stage of sleep is called Quick Eye Movement. During QEM sleep, you breathe faster, and your heart beats faster than in stage one through four. Your eyes move quickly under your eyelids. All of this happens because you are dreaming. Doctors have proved(證明) that everyone dreams.
1. During stages one and two, we wake up easily.
2. When we sleep deeply, neither sounds nor lights can wake us up easily.
3. The Quick Eye Movement shows that our eyes are under the eyelids.

Today sending text messages(短信) is part of our lives. According to a survey, a third of the U. S. children send more than 100 text messages a day. Sending text messages is becoming more and more popular among young people in China, too. Children prefer text-messaging to communicate with friends no matter where they are, even under the noses of parents and teachers. It seems that some children are "addicted (上癮)" to texting. Actually sending too much is bad for their lives, health and study.
However, sending text messages isn't all bad. It helps to improve our lives in some ways. Today many children greet each other on holidays by sending text messages instead of writing paper cards. During the last: Spring Festival, more than 14 billion text messages were sent in China. "Sending text messages helps save my pocket money," said Wu Qing, a friend of mine, "and it saves paper, too." Many parents send their kids texts instead of giving orders by mouth. It sounds more friendly. And children can accept them easily.
