___________________________________________________________________

1I am very glad that he has gone far beyond me in English.

2The little dog must be operated on right now, or it will bleed to death.

3The boy in a school uniform has\had something to do with the case.

4People spoke highly of Tan Dun’s music because of its lasting value.

5The result will not be announced until the end of the programme.

我很高興譯為“I am very glad”;用that引導賓語從句;譯為“he”;遠遠超過了我譯為“go far beyond me”;在英語上譯為“in English”。 I am very glad that he has gone far beyond me in English.

那只小狗譯為“the little dog”;必須立刻動手術譯為“must be operated on right now”;否則譯為“or”;流血致死譯為“bleed to death”。 The little dog must be operated on right now, or it will bleed to death.

這個穿校服的男孩譯為“the boy in a school uniform”……有關譯為“have something to do with”;這起案件譯為“the case”;一般現(xiàn)在時中謂語用has,一般過去時中謂語用had。 The boy in a school uniform has\had something to do with the case.

人們譯為“people”;高度評價譯為“speak highly of”speak作謂語,用過去式spoke;譚盾的音樂譯為“Tan Dun’s music”因為譯為“because of”;它的持久價值譯為“its lasting value”。 People spoke highly of Tan Dun’s music because of its lasting value.

譯為“not … until”宣布與主語是動賓關系,譯為“be announced”;節(jié)目最后譯為“the end of the programme”。 The result will not be announced until the end of the programme.

WHEN was the last time you used an emoji ? For many of you, the answer is “just now”! Indeed, the cute little pictures have become an important part of our digital lives. But think twice the next time you send out an emoji – the wrong one may get you in hot water

A 12-year-old girl from Virginia, US learned this lesson the hard way. She faced charges for using gun, bomb and knife emojis in a post on Instagram, a photo-sharing website, in December. She had to appear in a court for threatening the school and computer harassment (騷擾) last month, reported The Washington Post.

The girl’s mother said her daughter was a good kid and that the post was a response to bullying (欺凌). It’s not clear whether the case has already been solved, since the hearings (聽證) were not open to the public.

There will be more and more of these cases as emojis continue to spread around the world. Last year, 6 billion emojis and other similar pictures were sent every day, according to the UK-based mobile technology company SwiftKey.

While the courts get ready to struggle with upcoming cases with emojis, do you agree that we should start using the icons more carefully?

Everyone has good days and bad days.

Sometimes, you may feel that you're on top of the world and all the questions on your maths test might seem easy. But sometimes you feel frightened or you lose things, and you cannot focus on your school work.

For more than 20 years, scientists have suggested that high self-esteem(自尊)is the key to success. They said that kids who feel good about themselves do better in school and have fewer emotional problems than kids who have a low opinion of themselves.

Now, new research shows that focusing just on building self-esteem may not be helpful. In some cases, having high self-esteem can bring bad results if it makes you less likeable(可愛的)or more upset when you fail at something.

"Forget about self-esteem," says Jennifer Crocker, a psychologist at the University of Michigan, US. "It's not the important thing. " Crockery's advice may sound a bit strange because it is good to feel good about oneself. Studies show that people with high self-esteem are less likely to be sad, anxious, shy, or lonely than those with low self-esteem.

But, after reviewing about 18,000 studies on self-esteem, Roy Baumeister, a psychologist at Florid a State University, has found that building up your self-esteem will not necessarily make you a better person. People with high self-esteem tend to think more of themselves while people with low self-esteem are more likely to rely on their friends when they need help.

Researchers say it is best to listen to and support other people. Set out to create or build something. If you fail at something, try to learn from the experience. "The best therapy(藥方)is to know your own weak points," Vohs says. "It's OK to say, 'I'm not so good at that,' and then move on. "

1According to scientists, what is the key to success?

2Do kids who have a low opinion of themselves have more emotional problems?

Many have heard of shark fin soup. This famous and expensive dish is especially popular in southern China. But do you realize that you’re killing a whole shark each time you enjoy a bowl of shark fin soup?

When people catch sharks, they cut off their fins and throw the sharks back into the ocean. This is not only cruel, but also harmful to the environment. Without a fin, a shark can no longer swim and slowly dies. Sharks are at the top of the food chain in the ocean’s ecosystem. If their numbers drop too low, it will bring danger to all ocean life. Many believe that sharks can never be endangered because they are the strongest in their food chain. But in fact, around 70 million sharks are caught and traded in this industry every year. The numbers of some kinds of sharks have fallen by over 90 percent in the last 20 to 30 years.

Environmental protection groups around the world, such as WildAid and the WWF, are teaching the public about “finning”. They have even asked governments to develop laws to stop the sale of shark fins. So far, no scientific studies have shown that shark fins are good for health, so why eat them? Help save the sharks!
