【題目】閱讀短文,根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容回答問(wèn)題。
Canada is the second-largest country in the world, with almost 10 million square kilometres of landmass. Due to(由于) its size, it is divided into four different regions(地區(qū)).
The Atlantic Provinces
Fishing is the old industry in this region. Agricultural crops, such as fruit and potatoes, and forests, which produce paper and lumber(木材), form part of the industry. Traditionally depending on fishing and farming, they are developing other natural resources, such as oil and copper.
Central Canada
Ontario and Quebec form the industrial and manufacturing(制造業(yè)的) heart of Canada. They produce three quarters of Canada’s goods. More than half of Canada’s population lives in the cities in the southern part of Ontario and Quebec. Most of the people living in Quebec speak French.
The West Coast
The British Columbia Coast is Canada’s western continental coastline(海岸線 ). Europeans settled(定居) in British Columbia in the early 1800s. The railroad built by the government in the late 1800s made moving much easier. Thousands of Chinese came to British Columbia during this period to work on the railroad. British Columbia has the most valuable forest industry in Canada.
Salmon(鮭魚(yú)) fishing is not only a popular sport, but also an important part of the industry. Pacific salmon are exported(出口) all over the world.
The North
The Yukon and the Northwest Territories(領(lǐng)土) cover a third of Canada. This huge region has a very small population. Most of the people are natives. There are several native languages, which are equal(平等的) in status(地位) to English and French. During the Gold Rush at the end of the 1800s, thousands of miners(礦工) came to make their fortune(財(cái)富). Mining is still an important industry in this region.
【1】What’s the old industry in the Atlantic Provinces?
【2】What language do most of the people living in Quebec speak?
【3】Why did thousands of Chinese go to British Columbia in the late 1800s?
【4】What is still an important industry in the North region?

【題目】 Seeing someone who seems to be walking on a cloud sounds like a dream. But this scene indeed exists --- and it isn't just in your head. It's a popular attraction in the South American country of Bolivia called the Salar de Uyuni. The area covers a large amount of white, glistening salt and runs across 10,582 kilometers of the Altiplano and you can even see it from space.
What's special about the Salar? This salt flat can create an endless natural mirror (鏡子), which gives you an amazing experience. On a still day, a thin layer of water covering the salt changes the salt flat into "The World's Largest Mirror" reflecting the sky. Those who are lucky enough to see this natural wonder will tell you how difficult it is to find out the dividing line between the sky and land.
Some 40,000 years ago, water from the surrounding mountains gathered here and there were no outlets (出口) where the rainfall could flow out. So a huge lake was formed with natural salt inside. Over time, about 25,000 years ago, a rise in temperatures reduced the amount of rainfall in the area. The climate from wet to dry caused the water to slowly evaporate (蒸發(fā)). About 10,000 years ago, the body of water dried up and a deep layer of salt flat was left behind.
With about 10 billion tons of salt lying around it, it's no surprise that salt production in the Salar is a big business. But the real treasure lies under the surface of the salt flat, where around 70% of the world's lithium (鋰) reserves can be found. The lithium is used for powering mobile phones, laptops, electric cars and this resource could be of great value.
