Imagine if your journey to work was from your bedroom to your living room. More and more people in the UK are doing their jobs at home.

David works as an engineer in a London factory. He's been an engineer since he left school-but he is feeling less hopeful about his future. Heavy industry in the UK has almost disappeared. David also gets tired of his long train journey to work. It can take up to two hours a day.

David's wife, Helen, seldom travels to work at all. She is a writer. After she sent her children to school, she starts to work in front of her computer screen. When she finishes her books, she sends them to her director by email.

Most people in the UK, like David come(經(jīng)常往返）to work, but an increasing number of people work as teleworkers.

So what are the advantages? Tele-workers can save hours by not traveling to work. "I hated my journey to work," says Helen. "Now all I have to do is to walk downstairs!" Many teleworkers say that working from home is much less stressful-good news for both workers and managers.

So is telecommuting( 遠程辦公）for everyone? "It, hard at first ",says Helen," because our living mom is also my office, and disciplining yourself(自我控制）to work from home can be difficult.
