【題目】 Getting electricity has always been a problem for the 173 people living in Nuevo Saposoa, a small village in Peru,South America. However, things went from bad to worse in March 2015 after heavy rains damaged the only power cables(電力電纜) in the area. The villagers were forced to use oil lamps, which are not only expensive but also dangerous because of the harmful gases they produce.

Luckily, researchers at the University of TechnologyUTin Lima, Peru heard about their problem and found a wonderful solution. They made a lamp that can be powered by plants and soil, both of which can be easily found in the Amazonian rainforest where the village lies. The lamp takes energy from a plant growing in a wooden box and uses it to light up an LED light bulb.

While that may sound amazing and even impossible, the science behind the ides is quite simple. As plants create their food (using the sun’s energy, water and chemicals from the soil), they also produce waste which they return to the soil. Tiny animals in the soil eat this waste and they produce electrons—the building blocks of electrical energy. The UT team put special sticks inside the soil to capture the energy and keep it in the lamp’s batteries for later use. The researchers say a single charge can power a 50-watt Led light for two hours-enough time for local villagers to get their evening work done.

The university gave ten Plant Lamps to the villagers of Nuevo Saposoa in October 2015. So far, they have been a huge success! 【題目】 Most bees are brown, hairy and 8 to 22 mm long. Bees live as part of a large family. Over 25,000 kinds of bees have been found. Among all of them, honey bees are the most common.

Honey bees always live in groups called hives(蜂群) Each hive has a queen, drones(雄蜂)and workers(工蜂). Like a human society, each bee in a hive knows its own job.

The queen is the largest bee. She doesn’t go out to work, but lays eggs. Sometimes a queen can lay 3, 000 eggs in a day.

Drones do not collect food from flowers. They are the queen’s husbands. When there’s not much food, drones are often kicked out of the hive.

Workers are the smallest and busiest bees. A colony can have 50,000 to 60,000 workers. They collect food for the queen and babies. They guard the hive and help to keep it cool by fanning their wings. A worker only lives for 28 to 35 days.

Do you want to be happier? Well, you can do something about it. Some psychologists 心理學(xué)家) believe that 10% of your happiness is due to life conditions and 40% is the result of your own choices. Your own choices include how you manage your time at school, your relationships, your friends, your activities and your health. So you have a lot of control over how happy you feel.1 Here are some tips on how to do that.

Surround yourself with positive 積極的) people. Spend time with positive people and your ideas will become active. On the other hand, good friends will encourage, support, and lift you up when you're down.2

That's also true for the people that we work with Don't try to be perfect. Remember that nothing can ever be perfect.3

Instead think about what you already have. Think about what you've already done. Think of where you are today as a step towards tomorrow. Don't try to be perfect, just try to do things wellwith excellence.

Focus on now. Don't think about all the things that can go wrong, like failing at school or your friend leaving you. Thinking like this only results in worry and stress, which is a waste of time and energy.4 Just worry about making today great, because the best way to be happy is just to enjoy each day.

Compare yourself to yourself, not to other people. There will always be someone smarter, or richer, or better looking or more successful than you. There will always be someone with a bigger house and a bigger boat than you. Someone will always have more. Rather, look at what you have got and who you are, accept and value that. Work toward being a better one than you were last month or last year. 5 And you will feel a lot happier with, and about yourself.

A.They see the best in you, and that helps you see the best in yourself.

B.That way you will be pleased with the progress that you are making.

C.The key is to take control by making choices and developing habits that make you happier.

D.You can control how happy you are, since giving always makes you feel happier.

E.If you can't control tomorrow, don't worry about tomorrow.

F.If you aim for perfection all the time, you will never be satisfied or happy.

G.Your relationship with your parents doesn't have to be perfect before you can be happy.
