Park Life

Do you like hanging out in the park with your friends? If so, why not take the chance to come with us and tidy up the park as you go? To add some fun, there is a gift for the person who collects the most rubbish. Meet us at the south entrance to Taohe Park at 9:00 am next Saturday if you want to join in.

The Air We Breathe

A great way to make the air we breathe cleaner is by planting lots of trees! It is a fact that trees slowly filter(過濾) a lot of pollutants from the air. So come and help us plant some new ones in Fenhe Park at 2:00 pm next Sunday.

War on Graffiti

Some people think graffiti (涂鴉) is cool. Well it is not! The best way to stop buildings from becoming totally covered in ugly graffiti is to get rid of it as soon as possible. And that is exactly what we are going to do. We are repainting the school walls from 1:00 pm on Saturday. You don’t have to bring any tools, just remember to wear some old clothes!

Celebrating New Year’s Day is one of the oldest and most exciting traditions around the world. New Year’s Day is also the Festival of Saint Basil in Canada. Children leave their shoes by the fireside on New Year’s Day with the hope that Saint Basil, who is famous for his kindness, will come and fill their shoes with gifts.

The Jewish New Year is called Rosh Hashanah. It is an important time when Jews promise to do better in the future. Special services are held in the church, children are given new clothes and New Year bread is cooked to remind people of harvest time.

On New Year’s Day in Japan, everyone gets dressed in their new clothes and homes are decorated (裝飾) with bamboos—symbols of long life.

In European countries such as Germany, France and Belgium, families start the New Year by first attending church services. Afterwards, they visit friends and relatives. In France, boys and girls receive gifts of money on New Year’s Day.

Whether young or old, Zootopia’s story carries a powerful and thematic commentary message that’s highly valued and relative (especially in today’s world). As Judy Hopps says in the movie “Life’s a little bit messy. We all make mistakes. No matter what type of animal you are, change starts with you.” And I can’t agree more with that statement.
