the La Ba Festival

It can make people feel warm all over their bodies. In Chinese the word “rice cake” has the same pronunciation with the word “higher in a new year”. It's a symbol of good luck and promotion(提升)．

Buying sesame straw(芝麻稈)

Major Cold always coincides with(與……一致) the end of the year in lunar calendar. In some areas of China, people always look forward to buying sesame straw during this period because of the old saying, “Sesame_in_bloom—rising_steadily”. This saying is used to describe either the rising of living standards or the progress in thought, studies or skills.
