I was driving home on a very hot afternoon and about to get near a crossing. One of the main traffic lights had gone off, and a police officer was standing in the middle of the busy street to direct(指揮) the traffic. When I was about 12, I had an enemy, a girl who liked to point out my shortcomings. Sometimes she said I was thin. Sometimes she said I was lazy. Sometimes she said I wasn’t a good student.
