In Finland, most houses have sauna（蒸汽�。�. The sauna is a small wool hut or a room with a furnace（爐子）inside. Stones piled over the furnace are heated red hot. After the stones are heated, the sauna is used for taking a sauna bath.

The high temperature is useful to taking sauna. Temperature in the sauna is sometimes over 190 degrees. People taking a sauna both sit or lie on a wood platform in the hot, dry air. The hot air makes them perspire（出汗）. From time to time, they pour water on the hot stones to make clouds steam.

People in the sauna beat themselves with branches from a birch tree. They do this to make themselves feel even hotter. Then they wash with soap and water. After washing, they cool off in cold water.

Benjamin Franklin famously founded (創(chuàng)建) America’s first lending library in 1731. But the public library system got its biggest development in the American history in the late 1800’s.
