【題目】 Do foreigners find online shopping fun or painful? Some of my foreign friends have shared their online shopping stories with me.

Ari James (US)

One of the first things I was told about China is Taobao. When I arrived in Nanjing, it didn't long to start buying things from Taobao. I bought bags, shoes and many other things. The most funny thing is that I once ordered 15 large doughnut pillows (甜甜圈枕頭) for my teachers. The pillows arrived the very next day in such a huge bag that I carried it to the school like Father Christmas.

Christine (Australia)

I've been shopping online for nearly three years. Now I'm completely in love with Taobao. I can find almost everything I want on it. It took me a long time to get used to online shopping, since most online shops serve Chinese people. But as soon as I got the knack (訣竅), online shopping became quite easy.

Barbara Gordon (US)

I've only used Taobao a few times. Compared with website like Amazon, Taobao is worse. You have to be very careful about what you will buy in order to avoid scams (詐騙). If Taobao can try harder to fight against online scams, it'll be more successful.

Lindy (Canada)

I can't stop shopping on Taobao! I often search for what I want through Taobao for a whole day! I so crazy about traditional Chinese gifts. I won't miss this year's shopping day.

【題目】 The 32nd Summer Olympic Games. will be held in Tokyo, Japan in 2020. Recently, the organizers showed the medals (獎(jiǎng)牌) to be presented at the Games. The design of the medals is simple, but they look shiny from any direction. And do you know that these medals were made from old smartphones and other electronics (電子產(chǎn)品)?

The idea was first introduced in 2016 by a group of young Japanese environmentalists. They wanted people to pay attention to the amount of e-waste created by the country's tech-loving people who change their electronics very often. To protect the environment, the Organizing Committee started the "Everyone's Medal" program in April 2017. The program encouraged people to drop used electronics in certain places. By the time the collection ended in March 2019, 78,985 tons of used smartphones and other small electronics had been collected. The program finally got 32 kilos of gold, 3,500 kilos of silver (), and 2,200 kilos of bronze-more than enough metals (金屬) to make every medal.

The Olympic Committee hopes the Tokyo 2020 Olympic medals will draw people's attention to the fast increase in e-waste not just in Japan, but worldwide and cause people to rethink upgrading (更新) electronics unnecessarily.

Though Japan is the first Olympic host country to make all the medals by using metals from used electronics, it is not the only one to think of the idea. Brazil made 30% of the silver and bronze medals for the 2016 Summer Olympics from recycled materials(回收材料).

1What do Japanese people use to make medals for the coming Summer Olympic games?

______________________________

2Why did young Japanese environmentalists suggest making the special medals?

3How long did the "Everyone's Medal" program last?

【題目】 What does it take to graduate (畢業(yè)) from a university? Many may say all you have to do is to take classes and pass the exams. Well, it is not enough if you're a student at Tsinghua University.

Starting this September, students at the university will have to take swimming courses, If they fail a swimming test at the beginning of their university course, they won't receive their degree (學(xué)位) until they can pass the test successfully. But students with certain physical or mental (心理的) illness are not included. Why does the university connect swimming ability with degrees? Liu Bo, head of the Division of Sports Science and Physical Education, explained, "As a necessary living skill, swimming is helpful in improving students' endurance (耐力). And students don't get hurt easily when doing the water sport." Considering the ability to swim as a must for students is not something new to this university-it was also necessary in the early 20th century. It was later dropped because of a rising number of students. Another reason is that there were not enough swimming pools. Besides Tsinghua University, Peking University and Xiamen University, have also listed swimming as a compulsory course for students.

However, the rule made by Tsinghua University has caused a heated discussion. Some welcomed the new rule, saying it's a necessary skill that can save lives in unexpected and dangerous situations as well as a way to stay healthy. However, some said it has nothing to do with getting a degree. It's not reasonable to ask people to be able to swim for them to graduate, especially for a lot of people who grew up in inland (內(nèi)陸) cities, learning how to swim as an adult will be difficult. In fact, Chinese universities are not the only education organizations that encourage their students to swim. A few colleges in the. United States-including Cornell University, Columbia University and MIT-provide swimming classes for students, too. They believe that anything that stops people from dying needlessly is a valuable skill.

3The underlined word "compulsory" means _______ in Chinese.

A.選修的B.無關(guān)的C.必修的

A.It's helpful and healthy to learn to swim.

B.Swimming will get in the way of students' study.

C.Learning to swim should not be a must for getting a degree.

5What can we infer from the passage?

A.All universities believe' that swimming is the most important skill.

B.Students at Tsinghua University had to take swimming courses in the 1910s.

C.It is much, easier for an adult who grew up in Chengdu to learn to swim.
