I have never taken cooking classes. I learned cooking from my mother because she was really interested in teaching me how to cook. The main reason for this was because when my mother got married, she didn’t know how to cook anything, not even an egg. My grandmother never allowed her to stay in the kitchen when she was cooking.
My mother did not start to cook until she was 25 years old. In the beginning, it was very hard for her. So, she had to take cooking classes to prepare(準(zhǔn)備) our meals. After having that experience, she decided to teach me how to cook because she didn’t want me to have the same experience.

Hi! My name is Robert and I live in Chicago. My school is called Parkside Elementary.  It is Jake and Elizabeth’s school too.  Michael and Trevor’s school is called Lincoln Middle School.  In the USA many students go to elementary school between the ages of 5-10, then middle school between the ages of 11-13, and then a four year high school, and last but not least, many people go to college or vocational school. Our elementary school starts at 8:30 am and ends at 3:20 pm. We go to school on Monday through Fridays and have the weekends off.

For three months, I’ve written to a girl called Louisa, who is the same age as me.
It’ s been more interesting to hear about her life. She’ s told me all about her school and described her daily (日常的) life. I can’ t believe that her School doesn’ t. have any electricity. She goes to ’school from eight o’ clock in the morning until six. O’clock. in the evening. I can’ t believe how lucky we are here! She’ s also told me that she often can’ t go to school because she has to look after her baby brother and sister. She’s tried to teach me some of her language and it’ s really difficult.
I love it because it’ s the first time I’ ve thought about what life must be like somewhere else. I can’ t believe people miss classes here when everything is so easy for us.
