Last week, all the teachers and students of our schooll watched a special performance(表演)by a group of disabled people. The first program was a dance named“The light of life”. To my surprise, all the dancers had to face so many difficulties. However, they showed us an amazing performance.

The two people who came out next shocked us all. The first one was a singer. He was very young. But unluckily,he had lost both of his hands in a big fire. The song he sang for us was “Late Autumn”,and he sang it in such a low and sweet voice. Though it was warm spring, I felt a little cold when I heard the song as if it was really late autumn.“How much love and feeling is hidden in my heart? I wish to hold your hands again.”Hearing this,I couldn’t keep back my tears.

The other one was also a young man. He lost both of his arms when he was six. From then on, his feet became his“hands”. He could do a number of things with his feet. The two words“Flying High”expressed his wishes.

“If your wings are gone, your heart can still fly,”said Zhang Haidi, a disabled writer. In the world, there are many disabled people, yet most of them don’t give up. They have strong wishes and beautiful dreams. Disabililty doesn’t mean failure. Once you try hard, miracles(奇跡)will happen sooner or later.

Perhaps the only test score that I remembered is the 55 when I was in high school.

The test was the final for a course. I remembered waiting anxiously as my teacher Mr. Right passed out our papers one by one. It was a rather difficult test. I heard my classmates groaning, and I could tell by the groans that the scores weren’t looking good.

Mr. Right put my paper on my desk. There in big red numbers, circled to draw attention, was my score, 55!

I lowered my head, and covered the score up quickly. A 55 is not something that I wanted my classmates to see. “The scores were not very good, none of you passed,” Mr. Right said. “The highest score in the class was a 55.”

A 55. That’s me!

Suddenly my sad look didn’t look so bad. I had the highest score. I felt a lot better.

I walked home alone that day with the low but high score. My father knew that I had a big test that day and asked me as soon as I got home, “How did you do in your test?” “I made a 55,” I said.

A frown(皺眉) now stood on my father’s face. I knew I had to explain immediately. “But Dad, I had the highest score in the class, ” I proudly stated. I thought that explanation would make a difference. “You failed!” my father replied. “But it’s the highest!” I insisted. “I don’t care what scores others had, but you failed. What matters is what you do!” my father firmly said.

For years, my father was always that way. It didn’t matter what others did, it only mattered what I did and that I did it excellently.

We often don’t understand the wisdom(智慧)of good parents until we ourselves stand in the parents’ shoes. My father’s words have carried me throughout life.

C. walked home alone D. explained immediately

3.A frown stood on my father’s face because he thought .

C. I became the worst student D. I stood in his shoes

4.We can infer from the passage that .

A. the father was strict with his child

B. the writer was always poor in tests

C. Mr. Right was worried about the writer

D. the writer was always happy with his scores

5.Which is the best title of the passage?

A. The Final Test B. That’s Me!

When the teacher asks a question in class, Wang Xiaobin never raises his hand. The 15-year-old Beijinger always waits for other classmates or the teacher to give the answer. “What if my answer is wrong?” Wang asks.

Wang is typical (典型的) among students who don’t put their hands up to answer teachers’ questions. At middle schools, this situation is very common.

Wang told that there are 53 students in his class, only six or seven raise their hands when a question is asked. “I think it’s a problem that might affect our studies, but I am afraid of making mistakes in front of my classmates,” he said.

This problem has attracted teachers’attention. Hu Wei, a teacher from Yibin No. 6 Middle School, Sichuan, listed some possible reasons to explain why students don’t raise their hands: they lack confidence;they are afraid of showing off or they’re afraid of losing face by giving a wrong answer.

To encourage students to raise their hands and get more involved (參與) in class, Hu suggests that teachers should repeat the question, then try to guide and encourage students to offer their answers.

Hu also advised students not to be shy, but confident and brave enough to try. No matter whether your answer is right or wrong, being active in class can help you understand the information better.

Sun Pin, 16 of Fujian, always raises her hand as soon as she comes up with the answer, even if she isn’t sure she has gotten it right. Sun can’t understand why some of her classmates keep silent in class. She enjoys raising her hand a lot. “It keeps me enthusiastic (熱情) and confident to express my idea,” Sun said. “Raising my hand has really made me outstanding.
