“When can I get a cellphone?”The answer is when your parents think you need one, though many
kids seem to be getting them around age 12 or 13. Some younger kids may have them because their
parents see it as a matter of safety and convenience. For example,a kid can call mom and dad when
sports practice is over. And a cellphone can give kids almost instant access(快捷通道)to their parents if
something goes wrong or they need help.It can give parents quick access to their kids so they can check
on them and make sure they're OK.
If you do get a cellphone, make some rules such as how many minutes you’re allowed to spend on the phone, when you can use your phone, when the phone must be turned off,and what you will do if
someone calls you too often, and so on.
You’ll also have to learn to take care of the phone in your life. Keep it charged (充電)and store it in the safe place so it doesn’t get lost. And whatever you do,don’t use it in the bathroom. I know someone
who dropped her phone in the toilet!

People are often killed while crossing the road. Most of these people are old people and children. Old
people are often killed because they usually can not see or hear very well. Children are often killed because
they are not careful. They have to look and listen before they cross the road.
A car, truck or bus can not stop very quickly. If the vehicle (汽車) is going very fast, it will travel many
meters before it stops. People don't always understand this. They think a car can stop within a few meters.
The faster a car is traveling, the longer it takes to stop. It is very difficult for a person to know how far a car
is traveling.
The only safe way to cross the road is to look both ways, right and left. Then if the road is clear, it is
safe to cross. The right way to cross the road is to walk quickly. It is not safe to run. If people run across
the road, they may fall down.
1. Who are often killed while crossing?

2. Why are children killed when crossing the road?
