Last night it snowed heavy. When Susan and I got up in this morning, we found the whole garden was covered with thick snow. So we decided clear the path. We got two spades but began our work at once. We both worked so hard that the path was clear soon. Seen this, our father felt very surprising. He smiled happily at us, telling us that we have done a good job and that he was proud for us. Finally Father gave us some pocket money as a reward for the Spring Festival. Susan and I was happy because we had all got the money through labor.

【小題4】but改為and
【小題8】for改為of
【小題9】was改為were
【小題10】all改為both

【小題2】去掉in  固定短語(yǔ)this morning在句中單獨(dú)做狀語(yǔ),不需要介詞in。
【小題3】decided后面加to 動(dòng)詞decide和不定式連用,形成decide to do sth決定做某事。
【小題8】for改為of 固定搭配be proud of…
【小題9】was改為were 本句的主語(yǔ)是Susan and I做主語(yǔ),謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞使用復(fù)數(shù)形式。
【小題10】all改為both 本句主語(yǔ)we是指Susan and I,表示兩者都使用的是both。

The worker I hired to repair my house had just finished a difficult first day on the job. A broken wheel made him an hour late; his ladder (????) fell down when he was painting the roof and now his old truck wouldn' t start. With each problem he shouted angrily, more at himself than at his things. As I drove him home, the man didn't say a word.

I tried talking to the man to kill time. I managed to find out that he had come up from Blue Hills in Victoria with his family six months ago to find a job. This was his first job since moving here. I now knew why his price was lower than any other worker I could find in the local newspaper. He really needed the job. His clothes told me as much.

On arriving, much to my surprise, he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked through his front garden he suddenly stopped at a small tree and placed his hands on it. Then, when he opened the door he completely changed. Instead of his troubled face, there was now a warm smile, hugs for his two children and a kiss for his wife.

The following day, I asked him about the tree.

"That's my trouble tree," he answered. "Work troubles aren't welcome at home with my wife and the children. So I hang them on that tree every night when I come home. Then in the morning I pick them up again. "

"And you know what else?" he said smiling,"The next morning I find that there aren't as many as I remember hanging up the night before. "

Two traveling angels (天使) stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the guest room. Instead the angels were given a space in the cold basement. As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied: “Things aren’t always what they seem.”

The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable(好客的)farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had,the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night’s rest. When the sun came up the next morning, the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been their only income, lay dead in the field.

The younger angel was very angry and asked the older angel, “How could this happen?” “Why did you not watch out for the cow? The first man had everything, yet you watched over his house,” she accused. “The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and you did not help.”

“Things aren’t always what they seem,” the older angel replied. “When we stayed in the basement,I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so greedy and unwilling to share his good fortune,I asked God if I could seal(封口) the wall so he wouldn’t find it.
