Being healthy means taking care of yourself physically and mentally. Here are some of my best tips on how to do both:

Break a bad habit. You don’t really “break” habits. You replace the unwanted behavior with something that prevents you from doing it and that doesn’t have unhealthy side effects. So if your problem is that you eat too much when you get home from work, find something new to do that is incompatible(不能共存的)with what you usually do. You can’t walk around the track at the school and pig out in your kitchen at the same time.

Grow your marriage. Relationships are negotiated, and the negotiation never stops. It’s always a give-and-take, always requires work. It’s like if you planted a garden and came back six months later----you wouldn’t even be able to find it. You have to tend it, feed it, weed it, deal with the problems.

Beat stress.  My dog, Maggie, is the best anti – stress tool I have. A few minutes petting, scratching or playing with her, and                            . Exercise also helps. Just about every day, I’m on the tennis court. It’s a great workout, and if I don’t have that, I don’t cope as well, sleep as well or think as well.

Refocus your anger. Expressing your anger is just not that good an idea. You say things you don’t mean. Instead, recognize that anger is usually a symptom of hurt, fear or frustration(挫折), and deal with the causes rather than blow up. When you do that, you’re a problem solver.

Don’t medicate with food.

It never, ever works. You’re denying your issue by eating your way through it, instead of saying, Hey, I’ve got a problem.

People use their mouths for many things. They eat, talk, shout and sing. They smile and they kiss. In the English language, there are many expressions using the word “mouth.”
For example, if you say bad things about a person, the person might protest and say “Do not bad mouth me.”  Sometimes, people say something to a friend or family member that they later regret because it hurts that person’s feelings. Or they tell the person something they were not supposed to tell. The speaker might say: “I really put my foot in my mouth this time.” If this should happen, the speaker might feel down in the mouth. In other words, he might feel sad for saying the wrong thing.
Another situation is when someone falsely claims another person said something. The other person might protest: “I did not say that. Do not put words in my mouth.”
Some people have lots of money because they were born into a very rich family. There is an expression for this, too. You might say such a person, “was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.” This rich person is the opposite of a person who lives from hand to mouth. This person is very poor and only has enough money for the most important things in life, like food.
Parents might sometimes withhold sweet food from a child as a form of punishment for saying bad things. For example, if a child says things she should not say to her parents, she might be described as a mouthy child. The parents might even tell the child to stop mouthing off.
But enough of all this talk. I have been running my mouth long enough.

I am untraditional. I like the different gift that nobody else would think
of to give. I hardly know what to get this year, however. I have given this a lot of thought because I just didn’t have a perfect gift this year for Father’s Day. As a daughter, I came up with some nice possibilities and wanted to share them with others.
Weekend stay at a favorite place. Maybe two nights in a motel(汽車(chē)旅館) would be nice for him. He and his dear could get away for an entire weekend and would not have to worry about the room and board. It would show some thought and generosity. It might be rather expensive and out of the question for some of us, but for others it may be within price range.
Concert tickets. If your dad has a favorite musician or band he would like to see, what an opportunity! He would enjoy himself and what a gift! The entire time at the concert he would  be thinking of you and what a great gift! In most cases, they would spend their money on the family or something else.
Designer clothes for the summer. Get his sizes. A lot of men will not shop for themselves. Find out his favorite colors and brand names. Let your dad add some handsome clothes to his summer wardrobe.
Gift basket of his favorite food. Whatever he likes to eat, get him a decorative gift basket of his favorite stuff. Add a bit of coffee or tea. Summer sausage, shrimp, or sushi(壽司)? Chinese, Italian, German, or none of the above! You know him pretty well, so surprise him with delicious food and watch him gladly receive it. If you are short of cash, cook a meal yourself!

What makes a house a home? A home is a place of companionship with people in it who love each other, who are harmonious (和諧的) and closer with one another than with those in the workplace or with classmates at school. A home is a place that’s so magnetic(有吸引力的) that it’s difficult to leave. In a home there is love, sharing and appreciation, and the members help one another.

I have seen families on the street. But if they live, sleep, talk, and eat together, they are a family, even if they are poorly off. You don’t need a roof to make a home. The truly homeless are some of the rich people who build multi-million-dollar houses and are too busy to really live in them. The truly homeless are those who have turned their home into a hotel lobby. The parents work and the children misbehave. They don’t talk and eat together every day. They rarely see each other. The truly homeless people are those with babysitters, caretakers, gardeners and maids. However, people are unaware of this, as they are too busy making money outside the home that they don’t live in. This is another way of looking at the rich and the homeless. Who is to be pitied?

Control of the computer and the Internet is also important to make a house into a home. If the computer is on all the time, the house turns into an office, even if everyone is at home. Many homes these days are just offices. Human communication has stopped. The computer eats up all the time that one should be giving to others within the home. Using the computer moderately gives us time for play and communication, not with a screen, but with other people.

58. The underlined word “those” refers to ________.

A. people who build multi-million-dollar houses

B. people who have lost their family members

C. people who don’t spend time with the family

D. homeless families living on the street in America

A. A home is a place where you are willing to stay.

C. Computers and the Internet are important for a happy home.

D. Sometimes it’s the rich that should be pitied.

Some people love eating food right after it is cooked. I prefer food just take out from the freezer. Fruit, candy, nuts, chocolate, cake with butter cream frosting(糖霜),even peas, all of them taste delicious when frozen. In fact, I often eat them that way.

I was a kid when I picked up the habit. In my family, lots of things were thrown into the freezer —finally, two freezers—to prevent them from going bad. Among them were some of the candies my sisters and I had collected on Halloween.

If we eat when they are still warm, we’ll find ourselves taking the cookies more than we should. It’s better if we can put them into the freezer and wait. That way we’ll eat less and enjoy them more because they are hard and chewing becomes a slower, more patient effort. That’s the point about frozen butter-cream frosting. Put it in your mouth at room temperature, and it’s gone very quickly. But when it’s frozen, you can enjoy the taste much longer as it melts(融化) in your mouth.

The freezer treats a lot of fruits kindly. Take frozen grapes for example, I keep a bowl of grapes in my freezer. They become a little icy, and somehow their sweetness is improved. They are perfect and healthy dessert(點(diǎn)心).This is the same with oranges, apples, bananas…You might think bananas would get super-hard when frozen. Wrong! They become cool, creamy and sweet. If you have wisely covered some or all of the bananas with melted chocolate before putting them into the freezer, they will have a double taste.

As long as you aren’t eating anything that truly has to be hot, go ahead and experiment.

A. was young   B. learned cooking   C. got married   D. got a fever

  A. Because they need more time to prepare.

  B. Because the taste is not good when they are hot.

  C. Because they are too delicious to avoid our overeating.

  D. Because we may eat them quickly and enjoy them less.

4.What does the underlined word “it” in the third paragraph refer to?

  A. The taste   B. Butter cream   C. The cookie   D. Frozen butter cream frosting

5. Which of the following is the advice the author gives on eating fruit?

  A. Make bananas hard.        B. Keep grapes in a bowl.

  C. Mix kinds of fruits together.  D. Add melted chocolate to bananas.
