15.The British"Daily Telegraph"
Traditionally regarded as one of the safest planes in the skies,the Boeing 777's reputation will have been damaged by the second fatal crash in less than a year.There are around 1,000Boeing 777s in service,and the plane is a long distance machine,travelling some of the longest routes.It entered service in 1995and the National Transportation Safety Board,which is responsible for monitoring US-made aircraft,has recorded fewer than 60incidents.
But the recent record hasn't been exact with two major incidents-a crash at San Francisco airport last July,which causes three lives,and the crash-landing of a British Airways 777at Heathrow in January 2008.
To our sadness,two days ago,Malaysia Airlines Flight 370lost contact flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.The Malaysian disaster is very different from both the BA incident and the crash involving an Asian Airlines flights at San Francisco International Airport in July,which occurred shortly before landing,while the Malaysia airlines plane disappeared off the radar(雷達)during the early stages of the trip.
The accident at San Francisco in July was due to pilot error which led to the engines being set to idle because he believed the computer would maintain sufficient speed to keep the plane up in the air.The BA crash landing,which did not result in any deaths,was finally found to have been caused by a block in the fuel line feeding the engine.
However,the Malaysia airlines plane disappeared off the radar during the early stages of the trip.No exact explanations have been given for the Malaysia airlines plane crash.First reports suggest that Zaharie Ahmad Shah,the 53-year-old Malaysian airlines pilot,was hugely experienced-having joined the carrier in 1981and with 18,365hours in the aircraft under his belt.

25.Which of the following is TRUE of the plane crashes?C
A.There are four plane crashes mentioned in the passage
B.The BA incident in July resulted from the pilot error
C.Three deaths were caused in the crash at San Francisco
D.The crash in San Francisco airport was caused by a block
26.What can we learn from the next?A
A.The exact reason for 370crash is not clear
B.Flight 370crash must be similar to the BA incident
C.The experienced pilot of Flight 370can't have operated wrong
D.Flight 370must have been taken control of to a different place
27.What you read isD.
A.a(chǎn) note            B.a(chǎn) schedule       C.a(chǎn) review         D.a(chǎn) news report

A.introduce the Flight 370crash
B.show Boeing 777's safety
C.guess the cause of the Flight 370crash
D.compare the causes of these plane crashes.

3.In today's fiercely competitive business environment,companies need to communicate information concerning a whole range of issues in a clear and precise manner to their customers.This  is  particularly so in the case of companies which do business in areas such as manufacturing,information technology(IT),engineering products and services-companies whose products and services may not be understood by a customer not familiar with its technical aspects.
These communication materials are prepared in a company these days by"technical writers"-people who can effectively communicate to an Intended audience.
Technical writing and writing text-books are poles apart.The former is aimed at those who do not have an in-depth knowledge about a product and therefore should be direct and easy to Understand.Too many technical terms would only add to the confusion of the customer.Technical writers first need to understand the technical information themselves,before trying to communicate it in easier 1anguage to the customers.Even graduates of English literature are often found  wanting when it comes to creative and effective writing.

A career in technical writing is seen as a good choice for women mainly because it is widely held that women are more gifted in creative writing than men and the job does not involve too much travelling or working at night.

32.What are"technical writers"supposed to do?A
A.To write about the company's products or services in clear,easy language.
B.To write about the company's products using correct technical terms.
B.To effectively communicate to an intended audience by writing letters.
D.To travel around to persuade people to buy the company's products or services.
33.Which of the following best explains the underlined word"wanting"in Paragraph 3?D
A.Being needed.
B.Wanting to write.
C.Hoping to be employed.
D.Lacking in ability.
34.What would happen if many technical terms are used in technical writing?C
A.It would sound too formal.
B.It would help engineers a lot.
C.It would confuse the customer.
D.It would produce a better effect.
35.Who would be the best candidate for a technical writer?B
A.A man with degrees in English literature and Journalism and a PGDCA.
B.A female with degrees in English literature and Journalism and a PGDCA.
C.A male graduate of English literature with a diploma in Journalism.
D.A woman with a degree in English literature along with a diploma in Journalism.
