【題目】Breathe, wave and smile. Along with more than 300 other seniors, I marched into the stadium on the afternoon of May 10. The audience burst into deafening cheers. The huge stadium shook with all the whistling and clapping.

It was as if a Hollywood superstar had walked on stage. And indeed, every single senior that day was a star of the moment. Each deserved it. The seniors had been preparing for four years for this once-in-a-lifetime moment—the commencement (graduation ceremony).

Seated, I waited anxiously for the opening address. As a foreign exchange student, I was not able to receive a diploma. However, I still had the wonderful feeling of being part of things. Like the other graduates, I was dressed in marron cap and gown.

Our principal, Mr. Glover, delivered a short, warm greeting. The US national anthem followed and then, hands on chests, a solemn Pledge of Allegiance(美國的愛國誓言).

Students who had excelled academically gave farewell speeches. The tears in some eyes convinced me that many had deep feelings about the occasion. It was as the class motto says, “Life brings us tears, smiles and memories. The tears dry; the smiles fade; but the memories last forever.”

Then came the core (the most important part) of the commencement. Hundreds of names were announced. Each graduate walked across the stage to receive his or her diploma from the principal. From the different cheers each graduate got, we had the funny sense that it was a kind of competition of who could cheer the loudest.

To be honest, the presentation of diplomas got boring. A girl sitting next to me even started yawning. But it wasn’t boring for those receiving the diploma: they would treasure the moment the principal placed the sacred brown document in their hands for the rest of their lives.

A new page in the book of that person’s life had turned. They were glimpsing their futures: futures of challenge, hardship, perhaps loneliness too, which would take all of their courage.

【題目】“Hello, Earth! Can you hear me?” That’s voice more than 400,000 people received recently. It was from Philae, a space vehicle that landed on a comet(彗星)in 2014. However, its transmissions (傳輸信號)back home went silent since then.

It took a 1ong time for Philae to make its way across the solar system (太陽系)and reach comet 67P/C-G. The pace vehicle got there aboard the Rosetta probe (探測器), which has been circling around the comet since Philae separated from it in November, 2014.

Philae’s job was to collect materials to study the comet’s composition. And for about two and a half days after landing, it did just that, sending the information back to scientists on Earth. But Philae’s landing on the comet’s icy surface had not been smooth. While touching down, it jumped up and ended up in the shadow of something like a huge rock. Philae runs on solar power, but there was no light in the place where it landed. In the end, it failed to work.

However,as comet 67P/C-G moved closer to the sun, more sunlight reached the space vehicle, allowing it to power up and come back online. Philae then sent something to Rosetta, which passed on the information back to Earth.

“We only received the information for about 85 seconds, but that’s enough to let us know it is alive and well,”says Stephan Ulamec, who works for the European Space Agency.“We hope to work out where it landed exactly on the 4-kilometer-wide comet. Now we plan to change how Rosetta moves so that Philae can keep on communicating and receiving instructions.”

1Hearing Philae’s voice,those people must have felt_______________.

A. afraid B. calm

C. excited D. worried.

2According to the text, Philae_______________.

A. was damaged when it landed

B. moved around comet 67P/C-G

C. needs light and gas to keep working

D. helps scientists learn about a comet

3What Stephan says in the text suggests that ____________.

A. Rosetta will move around another comet

B. Philae will continue to work for scientists

C. most comets are as wide as four kilometers

D. he wonders whether Philae is still alive

4What does the author mainly talk about in the text?

A. A sleeping space vehicle wakes up.

B. It is very dangerous to travel in space.

C. A new comet was discovered recently.

D. Philae was sent into space successfully.

One of my happiest childhood memories were having dinner with my parents and two sisters. As a result, found that we seldom had a chance to get together, we decided we would set aside three evenings the week for a sit-down dinner. First we tried setting three fixed days for our experiment—Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays. After a couple of week of trying this plan, almost everyone was unhappy. For a while, the kids began to resist the idea. They said they would rather to spend the time with their friends or take part in some activities. Gradual, though, they began to see these evenings together for a very different way. We laughed a lot and we discussed about each other’s problems. Since a few months, we all felt we had been able to build much strong relationships with the family than we had before.

【題目】How and when did Australia begin? It is believed that Australian history began at the end of the eighteenth century.
