Last Monday, we were having our Chinese class while the teacher suddenly slip and fell. We were all worried about her. One of the boy carried her on the back, under the help of some others, to the clinic immediately. It turned out that her right leg was breaking and she had to stay in hospital. The following day, we went to visit her with flowers and fruit. Seeing her laying in bed with leg wrapped in bandages, we felt sorry for her and hoped that she would recover soon. Lucky enough, this Thursday she returned back to the class in a wheelchair to give us lessons. We were both deeply moved and proud of having such a responsible teacher.

【1】 while →when ; 考查副詞。表示當(dāng)...時(shí)候,while接從句,動(dòng)作一定會(huì)延續(xù),When接延續(xù)性動(dòng)詞/瞬間動(dòng)詞,文中動(dòng)詞slip屬于瞬時(shí)動(dòng)詞,故應(yīng)用when。

根據(jù)one of the,表示...之一,后面接名詞的復(fù)數(shù)形式,故boy改為復(fù)數(shù)形式boys。

【4】under →with ; 考查短語。With the help of “在某人的幫助下”,固定搭配,under用于具體的“在...

【10】both →all 考查代詞。Both是指兩者,all是指三者或者三者以上,根據(jù)前面的we,代指全班同學(xué),故將both改為all。

【題目】Each Sunday, people can hear the music of the Mission Dolores Basilica in San Francisco. The Spanish missionaries(傳教士)built the church in 1791. It was the start of a special kind of neighborhood: the Mission District.

The area is a place with a long and varied history. One community member says that its important for people to understand the many levels of history in the neighborhood. He feels that this knowledge is a big part of understanding what it means to be a real San Franciscan.

But it isnt just its music thats colorful and lively. Its art is full of life as well.

The local art community stays close to the areas culture and tradition. A local arts organization often leads people on walks through the district. They visit streets like Balmy Alley, which is famous for its murals (壁畫). Even though the meanings behind the murals are always changing, they are still very powerful. One artist explains that they are fighting for fairness in the community and to help the environment through murals. Apparently, theyre something the community likes.

In China, people and giant pandas had been living together for thousands of years. But China’s human population has been great growing. More population means more land is needed for farming. It also mean more forests are cut for wood to build and heat houses. Loss of habitat in lowland areas has forced pandas live only in the mountains. The most damaged result of development has been that it has divided the panda’s habitat into little islands of forest. Today, many panda are isolated in these small sections of forest, because of they will cross into areas which people live. The result is that the giant pandas can connect with one another to mate and have babies.

Besides, to our relief, there is still some good news that people are trying to help the giant pandas by creating protected areas.

【題目】Students who date(約會(huì)) in middle school have significantly worse study skills. They are four times more likely to drop out of school and report twice as much alcohol and tobacco use as their single classmates, according to new research from the University of Georgia.

Romantic relationships are a trademark of adolescence, but very few studies have examined how adolescents differ in the development of these relationships,” said Pamela Orpinas, study author and professor in the College of Public Health and head of the Department of Health Promotion and Behavior.

Orpinas followed a group of 624 students over a seven-year period from 6th to 12th grade.

Each year, the group of students completed a survey indicating whether they had dated and reported the frequency of different behaviors, including the use of drugs and alcohol. Their teachers completed questionnaires about the students academic(學(xué)術(shù)的) efforts. He found that some students never or hardly ever reported dating from middle to high school, and these students always had the best study skills according to their teachers. Other students dated infrequently in middle school but increased the frequency of dating in high school.

At all points in time, teachers considered the students who reported the lowest frequency of dating as having the best study skills and the students with the highest dating as having the worst study skills,” according to the journal article. Study skills refer to behaviors that lead to academic success such as doing work for extra credit (學(xué)分), being well organized, finishing homework, working hard and reading assigned chapters.

Dating a classmate may be as complicated as dating a co-worker,” Orpinas said, “when the couple break up, they have to continue to see each other in class and perhaps see the ex-partner dating someone else. It is reasonable to think this could be linked to depression and could divert (轉(zhuǎn)移) attention from studying.

Dating should not be considered a ceremony of growth in middle school,” Orpinas concluded.

【1】According to the passage, students who date in middle school may_____

A. have poorer academic performances

B. be more likely to hurt others

C. enjoy better school lives

D. be less likely to use alcohol and tobacco

【2】When doing his study, Orpinas ________________.

A. followed a group of students of 6th and 12th grade

B. completed a survey and a report each year

C. found that the students’ study skills have connection with their frequency of dating

D. completed questionnaires about the students’ academic efforts

【3】What can possibly happen to the school couples after they break up?

A. They don’t want to see each other any longer.

B. They will think it’s reasonable to get depressed.

C. They will miss their ex-partners sometimes.

D. Their attention to studying will be affected.

【4】Orpinas attitude towards dating in middle school is_____

A. supportive B. negative

C. positive D. Unconcerned

【題目】 A group of graduates, successful in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Before offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and a variety of cups—porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking and cheap, some exquisite and expensive—telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: “If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. Be assured(確信的)that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups… And then you began eyeing each other’s cups.

Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of life we live. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee God has provided for us.”

God brews(泡,沏)the coffee, not the cups. Enjoy your coffee!

"The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything. "

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.

【1】What did the conversation turn into?

A. complaints B. study

C. discussion D. chat

【2】Why did the professor offer his students coffee with varieties of cups?

A. To give his students many more choices.

B. To teach his students how to enjoy coffee.

C. To show the students his collection of cups.

D. To tell his students the right attitude to life.

【3】 According to the professor, the happiest people are the ones who _____.

A. get the best type of coffee cups

B. make the best of what they have

C. have a wide range of coffee cups

D. care about social status and wealth

【4】The best title for the passage would be _____.

A. God's Coffee

B. The Pressure of Life

C. The Happiest People
