B [2015'東北三省四市教研聯(lián)合體高考模擬]

Melbourne, Australia

Melbourne is a hot-spot travel destination, and it's easy to see why with its beautiful beaches and busy city life.

Why it's a great choice: Australia as a whole is consid?ered a safe destination for international travel, and because of that, many solo travellers go there. In this English-speaking country, you won't be faced with any language barriers. Mel?bourne is easy to get around because you can walk or bike practically anywhere!

Thailand

Thailand is great for solo travellers―perhaps because of its Buddhist mindset, which promotes equality among the sexes.

Why it's a great choice: Thailand is known for its friend?ly atmosphere, and in this travel hot spot, there are plenty of chances to meet other like-minded travellers. Well known for cheap commodity prices, especially in the north, Thailand is a good choice if you want to get away on a budget. Thailand has a lot to offer, from the party-central Bangkok to beautiful beaches and tropical(熱帶的)jungle.

Hong Kong, China

Hong Kong is a great place to relax for solo travellers as it is full of "Zen moments", such as beautiful gardens and t'ai chi classes.

Why it's a great choice: Hong Kong is regarded as one of the safest cities in the world. If you're not well-travelled, or perhaps a bit tired of things like language barriers, Hong Kong is a great place to start, as it mixes both Eastern and Western cultures at the same time.

Bali, Indonesia

Bali is a spiritual place with yoga, spas, organic food and beaches. The combination of friendly people and splendid vis?ual culture has made Bali number one tourist attraction.

Why it's so great- you won't be the only solo traveller in Bali. Everyone is known for being extremely friendly and you're sure to meet some amazing characters along the way. As a Hindu island, Bali is the perfect place for a relaxing and spiritual retreat(靜修).The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctua?ry in Ubud is fantastic—if you like monkeys, anyway.

railway station. It was quite different from the regular Eng?lish classes we were familiar to, for we had no textbooks, no blackboard or no fixed seats.

Gathering at the entrance of the station, we told to col?lect as many English words and sentences as possible here. Curious and excited? we walked around the station and looked everywhere, search for any information in English. Whenever an English word comes into sight, the class would burst into the cheers as if we had discovered a new world. With the Chi?nese translation and vividly pictures, we could figure out its meaning with ease.

Now, this unforgettable lesson still encourages me to be an active learner where I go.

Maurice Mountain is a retired lawyer in Washington D. C. He developed a prototype(原型)for a device he calls Presto Emergency Boat Ladder. His invention is a small folding lad?der that attaches to the side of a boat to help people who fall into the water. Mr Mountain plans to mass-produce his boat ladder.

He created his invention at a workshop called TechShop. Membership costs for TechShop start at just over $ 100 per month. Members are able to use costly machines inclu?ding 3-D modelling tools and laser cutters. Isabella Musachio says TechShop helps its members build their dreams.
