From the picture, we can see the ways three mothers treat their children separately. One of them becomes very rude to her little son once he behaves badly. The second one, obviously, is a doting mother. She does what she can to satisfy her child. Another mother is keeping her son company, reading a book together. They both look very peaceful and happy.
It is understandable that every parent hopes their children become good. But the proper attitude of parents plays an important part when their children are brought up. We can tell that the first two mothers’ children will probably lack some important qualities when they grow up, and that the third mother’s child is sure to be healthy in mind.
As far as I’m concerned, not only is education of children teachers’ task, but parents should also attach greater importance to it. If children are properly treated when brought up, they will become healthy both physically and psychologically.
本文開篇就是使用了一個狀語從句we can see the ways three mothers treat their children separately. The ways 后面接句子,實質(zhì)上是省略了in which。 第二句One of them becomes very rude to her little son once he behaves badly.使用了條件從句… once …。句式十分靈活多變。第三句使用了副詞obviously做插入語。 第四句為一賓語從句She does what she can to satisfy her child. what=something that。第五句Another mother is keeping her son company, reading a book together. 使用正在進(jìn)行時,并用分詞reading 做狀語。第二段用一經(jīng)典句式開頭,It is +adj that+句子,不失為一亮點。是七句使用But做為銜接,是文章緊湊。第八句看起來復(fù)雜,其實就一賓語從句,使用了and將兩個從句連接起來。第八句As far as I’m concerned開頭,為必須熟悉的短語。使用了not only…but also,注意否定詞在首時必須使用部分倒裝。第八句為條件狀語從句,when brought up為一時間狀語,完整句型為when they are brought up.本文最大的亮點是句式多變,大量使用從句,并恰當(dāng)使用了序詞The second,Another和連詞but等,使文章條理清晰,結(jié)構(gòu)緊湊。

She had been shopping with her Mom in Wal-Mart. She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful brown haired, freckle (雀斑)-faced image of innocence. It was outside, the kind of rain that spilt over the top of gutters (檐槽), so much in a hurry to the Earth.
We all there inside the door of the Wal-Mart. We all waited, some patient, others , because nature messed up their hurried day. I got lost in the sound and sight of the heavens away the dirt and dust of the world. Memories of running and splashing so carefree as a child came pouring in as a welcome from the worries of my day.
Her voice was so sweet as it the depressing atmosphere. “Mom,let’s run through the rain,”she said.
“What?”Mom asked.
“Let’s run through the rain!”She repeated.
“No, honey. We’ll wait until it down a bit.”Mom replied.
The young child waited another minute and repeated: “Mom, let’s run through the rain.”
“We’ll get wet through if we do.”Mom said.“No, we won’t, Mom. That’s not what you said this morning.” The young girl said as she at her Mom’s arm, “Don’t you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer, you said, if God can get us through this, he can get us through !”
The entire crowd stopped dead .No one came or left in the next few minutes. Mom and thought for a while about what she would say.
Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly. Some might even ignore what was said. But this was a moment of affirmation (肯定) in a young child’s life,a time when trust could be nurtured (培育) so that it would bloom into .“Honey, you are right.Let’s run through the rain. If we get wet, maybe we just need washing.”Mom said. Then off they ran.We all stood watching, smiling as they ran past the cars. They held their shopping bags over their heads just in case. Soon they were by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars. And yes, I did. I ran. I got wet. I needed washing.
or people can take away your material possessions, your money, your health or sometimes your happiness. But no one can ever take away your memories. So don’t forget to take the opportunities to memories every day!
To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven. I do hope you will the time to run through the rain.

Night after night, she came to tuck me in(掖好被子), even long after my childhood years. Following her longstanding custom, she'd lean down and push my long hair out of the way, then kiss my forehead.
I don't remember when it first started annoying me — her hands pushing my hair that way. But it did annoy me, for they felt work-worn and rough against my young skin. Finally, one night, I shouted at her: "Don't do that anymore — your hands are too rough!" She didn't say anything in reply. But never again did my mother close out my day with that familiar expression of her love. Lying awake long afterward, my words rang in my mind. But pride overwhelmed my conscience, and I didn't tell her I was sorry.
Time after time, with the passing years, my thoughts returned to that night. I missed my mother's hands, missed her goodnight kiss upon my forehead. Sometimes the incident seemed very close, sometimes far away. But always it appeared in the back of my mind.
Well, the years have passed, and I'm not a little girl any more. Mom is in her mid-seventies, and those hands I once thought to be so rough are still doing things for me and my family. She's been our doctor, reaching for medicine to calm a young girl's stomach or ease the pain of a boy's injured knee. She cooks the best fried chicken in the world…gets stains out of blue jeans like I never could…and still insists on dishing out ice cream at any hour of the day or night.
Through the years, my mother's hands have put in countless hours of toil, and most of hers were before automatic washers!
Now, my own children are grown and gone. Mom no longer has Dad, and on special occasions, I find myself drawn next door to spend the night with her. So it was that late on Thanksgiving Eve, as I drifted into sleep in the bedroom of my youth, a familiar hand hesitantly stole across my face to brush the hair from my forehead. Then a kiss, ever so gently, touched my brow.
In my memory, for the thousandth time, I recalled the night my surly young voice complained: “Don't do that any more —your hands are too rough!” Catching Mom's hand in hand, I blurted out how sorry I was for that night. I thought she'd remember, as I did. But Mom didn't know what I was talking about. She had forgotten —and forgiven —long ago.
That night, I fell asleep with a new appreciation for my gentle mother and her caring hands. And the guilt I had carried around for so long was nowhere to be found.

Education is another area where the presence of arts and crafts is more than welcome. If children realize the importance of art and creativity from a young age, they can grow up to be more confident, more creative, and definitely more mature. Schools are the breeding(孕育)grounds for future painters and movie makers, and these arts should be encouraged wholesomely in such an environment.
Sadly, many parents do not understand why art is important for children, and subconsciously(潛意識地)force them to follow career paths that are common and conformist(墨守成規(guī)的)in nature. This is fair enough in its own way, because the world does need some standard blue collar and white collar jobs to continue its existence; but this is a choice that children should be allowed to make for themselves. The doors to creativity and expression must not be shut in their faces, even if it comes at a cost of making more money.
To put it more scientifically, here are some benefits of kids’ art activities that give a suitable answer to the question “Why is art important in schools?”
1.Exposure to art, music and drawings at an early age improves the amount of brain activity in children.
2.It increases the span of knowledge in the minds of children, thus making them sharper and more educated.
3.It builds up the levels of self-confidence, self-esteem(自尊), motivation, cooperation and communication in children.
4.It helps children understand other people’s opinions and points of view as well.
5.It helps them sharpen their problem-solving skills, decision-making and gives them the possibility of really exploring their imaginations.
1.According to the passage, it is generally accepted that ____.
A.art plays a very important role in education of children
B.children are expected to be blue-collar or white-collar workers
C.schools should encourage children to learn arts and crafts
D.children should be allowed to make choices for themselves
2.The writer holds the view that ____.
A.schools should only bring up future painters and movie makers
B.children grow up to be more confident and more creative in schools
C.children should be encouraged to learn art to develop their creativity
D.art activities can help children solve all the problems they meet with
3.What can be inferred from the passage?
A.Arts and crafts lessons are very popular in schools.
B.Art is not paid enough attention to in schools now.
C.Art activities improve the amount of brain activity.
D.Art education builds up the levels of self-confidence.
4.What would be the best title for the passage?
A.Importance of Art in Schools.
B.Relation between Art and Creativity.
C.Importance of Education.
D.Future of Children.

Daniel Olin was 11 years old when his parents moved to Canada. He liked his new school and made friends there, but then things at home started to change. His mum and dad began to argue and the arguments got worse and worse until one day, Daniel's mum left. With his father working long hours, Daniel felt very lonely and very unhappy. He wanted to escape, to run away. And that’s what he did.
Very early one terribly cold morning when the snow was deep on the ground, he packed a bag with some clothes, some chocolate and a map of Canada and set off to a forest. He ran and ran until he could hardly breathe.
His feet were heavy with the snow but he still walked on through deep snow, not even watching where he was going.
Then, disaster struck. A rock hidden by the deep snow caught his feet and Daniel fell to the ground. He had broken the bone. He was very cold and was starting to feel tired, but he knew that if he fell asleep in the snow, he would certainly die from the cold.
A tree shook ahead. From within the branches(樹枝), a pair of yellow eyes watched Daniel. The puma (美洲獅) had been following him. A puma is a large wild cat with claws that could tear Daniel into pieces. But instead of moving in for the kill, the puma walked up to Daniel and lay across his chest, arms and legs. Daniel was too frightened to move, but soon the warmth of the animal reached Daniel and he began to feel better. From time to time, the puma pressed his muzzle (鼻) against Daniel and rocked his head gently. Clearly, the puma knew that Daniel must not fall asleep. This animal should have been a real danger to Daniel and yet the boy began to feel safe. They remained like that for several hours until Daniel and the puma heard voices.
1.Daniel ran away from home because ______.
A. he had a big argument with his father
B. he wanted to learn to be independent
C. he didn’t get enough care from his parents
D. his parents were always arguing at home
2.Why didn’t Daniel notice the rock that caused him to fall?
A. Because it was getting dark.
B. Because the rock was hidden by snow.
C. Because he was frightened by a puma.
D. Because he was too sad to notice it.
3. Why did the puma press its muzzle against Dan and rock his head gently from time to time?
A. To keep Daniel warm. B. To play with Daniel.
C. To kill Daniel. D. To keep Daniel awake.
4.What is the best title for the story?
A. Puma in Danger B. A Caring Puma
C. A Boy in Need D. A Homeless Boy
