Mr. West intended to buy his wife a Christmas present, but he was always very busy, so he was never    1  to find time to go to the shops. Twenty-five years later, the Harcourts returned to Barmouth to celebrate their wedding anniversary. They were sitting on the beach one day when Mrs. Harcourt noticed something gold in the sand by the edge of the sea.
