這里是考查be likely to do意思是:很可能......。

be linked to 意思是:與......

The data 68 showed depressed people tended not to go many places 中,68 showed depressed people tended not to go many places是定語從句修飾前面的名詞The data,在從句中做主語,用關(guān)系代詞that/which,代替物。

The Cuban iguana is a species of lizard(蜥蜴) of the iguana family. It is the largest of the West Indian rock iguanas, one of the most endangered groups of lizards. This species with red eyes and a thick tail is one of the largest lizards in the Caribbean.

The Cuban iguana is primarily herbivorous; 95% of its diet consists of the leaves, flowers and fruits from as many as 30 plant species, including the seaside rock bush and various grasses. However, Cuban iguanas occasionally consume animal matter, and individuals have been observed eating the dead flesh of birds, fish and crabs. The researchers wrote that quite a few people on Isla Magueyes could have caused this incident.

The Cuban iguana is distributed throughout the rocky southern coastal areas of mainland Cuba and its surrounding islands with a wild population booming on Isla Magueyes, Puerto Rico. It is also found on the Cayman Islands of Little Cayman and Cayman Brac, where a separate subspecies occurs. Females guard their nest sites and often nest in sites half destroyed by Cuban crocodiles. To avoid the attack from them, the Cuban iguana often makes its home within or near prickly-pear cacti(仙人掌).

In general the species is in decline, more quickly on the mainland than on the outlying islands. One of the reasons for their decline is habitat destruction caused by the over consuming of farm animals, housing development, and the building of tourist resorts on the beaches where the animals prefer to build their nests. Although the wild population is in decline, the numbers of iguanas have been sharply increased as a result of captive-breeding(圈養(yǎng))and other conservation programs.

B. To get the food easily.

C. To stay away from people.

【3】How many reasons are mentioned for the habitat destruction?

A. Two. B. Three. C. Four. D. Five.

【4】What's the author's purpose of writing the text?

A. To give us a brief introduction to the Cuban iguana.

B. To show he is concerned about the Cuban iguana.

C. To explain reasons for the Cuban iguana's decline.

D. To draw people's attention to the endangered Cuban iguana.

Besides, it’ll make Chinese more standard and pure, finally ruining our mother tongue. However, 60% of our class is fond of it. They think it is simple, convenience and helpful in expressing them. What’s more, it may make the language more interesting.

Personally, it’s not good habit to use the Web language. It may be popular, but you may also make yourself be misunderstood.

Every year, it costs British students more and more to attend university. Students are graduating with larger and larger debts. __【1】__

In 2006, the UK government started to allow universities in England and Wales to charge British students tuition fees. More than 80 percent of students in England and Wales now take out a student loan(貸款)in order to go to university. They use the loan to pay for tuition fees, books and living expenses. The average student in England and Wales now graduates from university with debts of around 12,000. Students of medicine usually have debts of more than 20,000. That is a lot of money. It means graduates cannot afford to buy a house for many years. They even struggle to pay rent on a flat, because they have to start paying back the student loan after graduating. If you start to earn over 15,000 a year, the government takes repayments directly from your monthly salary. __2___

You might think that a British person with a degree will find it easy to get a well-paid job. However, most people in white-collar jobs seem to have a degree these days, so there is a lot of competition. Also, British companies tend to value work experience over a piece of paper. Like everyone else, graduates usually have to start at the bottom and work their way up. That can be very frustrating for them, since they are often over-qualified for the work they are doing. __3___ Therefore, life after university ends upbeing quite disappointing for a lot of graduates.

__4__ Even before the credit crisis started, the BBC stated: “The number of British students at UK universities has fallen for the first time in recent history, It looks like the figures will continue to decline, since loan companies are now telling some students that there are no loans available for them.

By contrast, things are now easier for students from other countries coming to study in the UK, since the value of the British pound has fallen. More international students come to Britain each year. The British universities offer more and more of the available places to richer international students rather than poorer British students. __5__

A. Some British people fear that, one day, there won’t be any university places left for British students at all.

B. Most British students expect to have to get a loan, part-time job or summer job.

C. So is a university degree really worth it?

D. Although the interest on student loans is quite low, it begins as soon as the student receives the loan.

E. Is it any surprise, therefore, that the average British person does not leave their parents’ home until they are 30 years old?

F. All of the above is beginning to make British people question whether a university degree is really worth the money.

G. While at university, they have dreams of getting an exciting, challenging job.
