【答案】
(1)in great need/ greatly needed
(2)have a day off
(3)in response to
(4)is expected to double/ will double
(5)apply for
(6)be related to
【解析】1根據(jù)句意判斷,此空須補(bǔ)全“急需”之意,be動(dòng)詞is后要么使用介詞短語(yǔ)或被 動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài),故填in great need或greatly needed。
2此空在want to do sth后,應(yīng)用動(dòng)詞原形,根據(jù)所要補(bǔ)全的意義,故填have a day off。
3句子結(jié)構(gòu)分析,句子主干完整,空后是名詞短語(yǔ)our customers’demands,故填介詞短語(yǔ)in response to。
4句子結(jié)構(gòu)分析,此句缺謂語(yǔ),根據(jù)提示“將會(huì)”應(yīng)是將來動(dòng)作,故可填will double;如果認(rèn)為暗含“預(yù)期預(yù)料”含義的話,也可填is expected to double。
5此空用于動(dòng)詞不定式to后,應(yīng)用動(dòng)詞原形,故填apply for。
6句子結(jié)構(gòu)分析,此空應(yīng)是謂語(yǔ)部分,空前是助動(dòng)詞will須用動(dòng)詞原形,故填短語(yǔ)be related to。

Dear Tom,

I’m more than happier that you’re interested in Chinese culture. Now let me tell you something about a Dragon Boat Festival.

It’s a traditional Chinese festival falling in the 5th day of the 5th month of the Chinese lunar calendar. It’s widely believed that the festival held in memory the great poet Qu Yuan, who lived in ancient times. Disappointed with the government,he drowned him in the Miluo River.

The festival is celebrated by boat racing, with the boats building in the shape of dragons. Competing teams row their boats forward to the drumbeat, race to reach the finishing end first. We also have the custom of eating zongzi, wrapped with bamboo leaf. It’s very popularly among Chinese people.

If you will want to know about other Chinese traditional festivals, just write to me.

Yours,

Li Hua

The book I'm reading of talks about afternoon tea in Britain. It is said to have started in the early 1800's.Have tea in the late afternoon provides a bridge between lunch and dinner, that might not be served until 8 o'clock at night. This custom soon becomes another meal of day.Interesting,it had a connection by the British porcelain(瓷器)industry.Tea in China was traditionally drank from cups without handles. When tea got popular in Britain, there was a crying need for good cup with handles to suit British habits. This made for the grow in the porcelain industry.

【題目】閱讀下列短文,從每題所給的四個(gè)選項(xiàng)(A、B、C和D)中,選出最佳選項(xiàng)。 “Soon, you're going to have to move out!” cried my neighbour upon seeing the largest tomato plant known to mankind, or at least known in my neighbourhood.
One tiny 9inch plant, bought for $1.25 in the spring, has already taken over much of my rose bed, covering much of other plants, and is well on its way to the front door.
Roses require a good deal of care, and if it weren't for the pleasure they give, it wouldn't be worth the work. As it is, I have a garden full of sweetsmelling roses for most of the year. Bushes must be pruned(剪枝) in early spring, leaving ugly woody branches until the new growth appears a few weeks later. It was the space available in the garden that led me into planting just one little tomato plant. A big mistake.
Soil conditions made just perfect for roses turn out to be even more perfect for tomatoes. The daily watering coupled with full sun and regular fertilizing(施肥) have turned the little plant into a tall bush. The cage I placed around it as the plant grew has long since disappeared under the thick leaves.
Now the task I face in harvesting the fruit is twofold(由兩部分組成的). First, I have to find the red ones among the leaves, which means I almost have to stand on my head, and once they are found I have to reach down and under, pick the tomatoes and withdraw my full fist without dropping the_prize_so_dearly_won. Second, I found two fullblown white roses completely hidden as I picked tomatoes in June, but they were weak and the leaves were already yellow for lack of light.
Here I am faced with a painful small decision: to tear up a wonderful and productive tomato plant that offers up between ten and twenty ripe sweet tomatoes each day or say goodbye to several expensive and treasured roses. Like Scarlett in GonewiththeWind, I'll think about that tomorrow.
(1)What are the requirements for the healthy growth of roses?
A.Frequent pruning and fertilizing.
B.Tomato plants grown alongside.
C.Cages placed around the roots.
D.A lot of care and the right soil.
(2)The writer planted the tomato because ________.
A.there was room for it in the garden
B.it cost only $1.25
C.the soil was just right for it
D.the roses' branches needed to be covered
(3)This year the writer's roses were ________.
A.removed from the rose bed
B.picked along with the tomatoes
C.largely hidden under the tomato plant
D.mostly damaged by too much sunlight
(4)By saying “the prize so dearly won” in Paragraph 5, the writer wants to ________.
A.show the hardship of growing the roses
B.show the difficulty in picking the tomatoes
C.express her liking for the roses
D.express her care for the tomatoes
