【題目】根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容,從短文后的選項(xiàng)中選出能填入空白處的最佳選項(xiàng)。選項(xiàng)中有兩項(xiàng)為多余選項(xiàng)。
Using too much water or throwing rubbish into our rivers are clear ways that humans can put our water supply in danger, but we also affect our water supply in less obvious ways. You may wonder how paving (鋪砌) a road can lead to less useable fresh water. Groundwater does not come from lakes or rivers. It comes from underground. The more roads and parking lots we pave, the less water can flow into the ground to become groundwater.
Drier climates are of course more likely to have droughts(干旱)than areas with more rainfall, but, in any case, good management can help to make sure there is enough water to meet our basic needs.
In the United States, a family of four can use 1.5 tons of water a day! This shows how much we depend on water to live, but there's a lot we can do to lower the number.
To start with, use the same glass for your drinking water all day. Wash it only once a day. Run your dishwasher (洗碗機(jī)) only when it is full. You can even help to keep our water supply clean by recycling (回收) batteries instead of throwing them away.
A. Human activity is not responsible for all water shortages.
B. Help your parents fix any leaks (漏水的地方) in your home.
C. Thinking about the way we use water every day can make a big difference, too.
D. Some measures to save water should be taken by the government.
E. A major part of the water we use every day is the water from lakes or rivers.
F. A major part of the water we use every day is ground water.
G. You can take steps to save water in your home.

【題目】根據(jù)短文理解,選擇正確答案。
Many people believe that they will be happy once they arrive at some specific goal they set for themselves. However, more often than not, once you arrive “there” you will still feel dissatisfied, and move your “there” vision to yet another point in the future. By always chasing (追尋) after another “there”, you are never really appreciating what you already have right “here”. It is important for human beings to keep sober-minded(頭腦清醒的) about the age-old drive to look beyond the place where you now stand. On one hand, your life is developed by your dreams and aspirations (抱負(fù)). On the other hand, these drives can pull you farther and farther from your enjoyment of your life right now.
To be grateful means you are thankful for what you have right now. Gratitude (感激) fills your heart with the joyful feeling and allows you to fully appreciate everything that arises on your path. As you try hard to keep your focus on the present moment, you can experience the full wonder of “here”.
There are many ways to develop gratitude. Here are just a few suggestions you may wish to try:
◆ Imagine what your life would be like if you lost all that you had. This will most surely remind you of how much you do appreciate it.
◆ Make a list each day of all that you are grateful for, so that you can stay conscious (有意識(shí)的) daily of your blessings. Do this especially when you are feeling as though you have nothing to feel grateful for. Or spend a few minutes before you go to sleep giving thanks for all that you have.
◆ Spend time offering assistance (幫助) to those who are less fortunate than you, so that you may gain a new perspective (觀(guān)點(diǎn)).
What really matters is that you create a space in your consciousness for appreciation for all that you have right now, so that you may live more happily in your present moment.

【題目】根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容,從短文后的七個(gè)選項(xiàng)中選出能填入空白處的最佳選項(xiàng)。選項(xiàng)中有兩項(xiàng)為多余選項(xiàng)。
What Is Emotional Eating?
Emotional eating is when people use food as a way to deal with feelings instead of satisfying hunger. Have you ever finished a whole bag of chips out of boredom or downed cookie after cookie while preparing for a big test? But when done a lot — especially without realizing it — emotional eating can affect weight, health, and overall well-being.
Not many of us make the connection between eating and our feelings.
One of the biggest myths about emotional eating is that it's caused by negative feelings. Yes, people often turn to food when they're stressed out, lonely, sad, anxious, or bored. But emotional eating can be linked to positive feelings too, like the romance of sharing dessert on Valentine's Day or the celebration of a holiday feast. Sometimes emotional eating is tied to major life events, like a death or a divorce.
Emotional eating patterns can be learned: A child who is given candy after a big achievement may grow up using candy as a reward for a job well done. It's not easy to “unlearn” patterns of emotional eating. But it is possible. And it starts with an awareness of what's going on.
We're all emotional eaters to a degree. But for some people emotional eating can be a real problem, causing serious weight gain or other problems. The trouble with emotional eating is that once the pleasure of eating is gone, the feelings that cause it remain. That's why it helps to know the difference between physical hunger and emotional hunger.
Next time you reach for a snack, wait and think about which type of hunger is driving it.
A. Believe it or not, we've all been there.
B. If a crying boy gets some cookies, he may link cookies with comfort.
C. One study found that people who eat food like pizza become happy afterwards.
D. And you often may feel worse about eating the amount or type of food you like.
E. Understanding what drives emotional eating can help people take steps to change it.
F. Boys seem to prefer hot, homemade comfort meals, while girls go for chocolate and ice cream.
G. More often, though, it's the countless little daily stresses that cause someone to seek comfort in food.
