【題目】閱讀理解
Perhaps you think you could easily add to your happiness with more money. Strange as it may seem, if you're unsatisfied, the issue is not a lack of means to meet your desires but a lack of desires—not that you cannot satisfy your tastes but that you don't have enough tastes.
Real riches consist of well-developed and hearty capacities (能力) to enjoy life. Most people are already swamped (淹沒) with things. They eat, wear, go and talk too much. They live in too big a house with too many rooms, yet their house of life is a hut(草棚).Your house of life ought to be a mansion (豪宅), a royal palace. Every new taste, every additional interest, every fresh enthusiasm adds a room. Here are several rooms your house of life should have.
Art should be a desire for you to develop simply because the world is full of beautiful things. If you only understood how to enjoy them and feed your spirit on them, they would make you as happy as to find plenty of ham and eggs when you're hungry.
Literature, classic literature, is a beautiful, richly furnished room where you might find many an hour of rest and refreshment. To gain that love would go toward making you a rich person, for a rich person is not someone who has a library but who likes a library.
Music like Mozart's and Bach's shouldn't be absent. Real riches are of the spirit. And when you've brought that spirit up to where classical music feeds it and makes you a little drunk, you have increased your thrills(excitement) and bettered them. And life is a matter of thrills.
Sports, without which you remain poor, mean a lot in life. No matter who you are, you would be more human, and your house of life would be better supported against the bad days, if you could, and did, play a bit.
Whatever rooms you might add to your house of life, the secret of enjoying life is to keep adding.

【解析】本文是一篇議論文。主要論證了精神富有與真正快樂之間的關系。很多人物質(zhì)上非常豐富,住豪宅,享美食。但是他們真正幸福嗎?他們的內(nèi)心生活的房子又是如何呢?作者在文章里告訴我們,要想得到內(nèi)心的幸福,需要了解藝術,文學,音樂等等不同的內(nèi)容來豐富我們的內(nèi)心世界。

(1)推理判斷題。根據(jù)文章4,5,6,7段第一句Art should be a desire for you和 Literature, classic literature, is a beautiful, richly furnished room和Music like Mozart's and Bach's shouldn't be absent.和Sports, without which you remain poor, mean a lot in life.

故A項中House of Life涵蓋了這些內(nèi)容。故選A項正確。

【題目】閱讀理解
If you want to become a fluent English speaker, you should take some advice: there are four skills in learning English. They are listening, speaking, reading and writing. The most important thing you must remember is that if you want to improve your speaking and writing skills you should first master the skills of reading and listening.
Read as much as you can. But your reading must be active. It means that you must think about the meaning of the sentences, the meaning of the unfamiliar words, etc.
There is no need for you to pay much attention to grammar—or try to understand all the unfamiliar words you come across, but the fact you see them for the first time and recognize them whenever you see them, for example in other passages or books, is enough. It would be better to prepare yourself a notebook so you can write down the important words or sentences in it.
As for listening, there are two choices: besides reading, you can listen every day for about 30 minutes. You can only pay attention to your reading and become skillful at your reading, then you can catch up on your listening. Since you have lots of inputs(輸入) in your mind, you can easily guess what the speaker is going to say. This never means that you should not practice listening.
For listening you can listen to cartoons or some movies that are specially made for children. Their languages are easy. Or if you are good at listening, you can listen to VOA or BBC programs every day. Again the thing to remember is being active in listening and preferably(更好地) taking some notes.
If you follow these pieces of advice, your speaking and writing will improve automatically(自動地),and you can be sure that with a little effort they will become perfect.
(1)According to the author, which should you improve first among the four skills?
A.Reading and listening.
B.Reading and writing.
C.Writing and speaking.
D.Speaking and listening.
(2)To improve your reading, when you read you should ________.
A.look up all the new words in the dictionary
B.think about what you are reading actively
C.spend more time studying grammar
D.copy as many words and sentences as possible
(3)The underlined words “come across” in paragraph 3 probably be replaced by ________.
A.meet by accident
B.discover
C.find on purpose
D.look for
(4)The author seems to agree with the view that ________.
A.everyone should listen to VOA or BBC programs every day
B.you needn't practice listening if you keep in reading every day
C.being good at reading is helpful in improving your listening
D.you should take notes of whatever you are hearing

【題目】You know the drill when it comes to losing weight: take in fewer calories and burn more calories.1If you're trying to drop a few pounds fast, these interesting tips will make it easy for you to lose the weight quick.

Eat in front of mirrors and you'll lose weight

One study finds that eating in front of mirrors reduces the amount people eat by nearly one third. Having to look yourself in the eye reflects back some of your own inner standards and goals.2

Sniff a banana or an apple when you feel hungry

3Researchers find that the more frequently people sniff, the less hungry they are and the more weight they lose—an average of 30 pounds each. One theory is that sniffing the food tricks the brain into thinking you're actually eating it.

4

Whether that's a floor, a couple of windows, or your car, a 150-pound person will burn about four calories for every minute spent cleaning. Scrub for 30 minutes and you could work off approximately 120 calories, the same number in a half-cup of frozen yogurt.

Start at the color blue

There's a good reason you won't see many fast-food restaurants decorated in blue: it helps to control an appetite. So serve up dinner on blue plates, dress in blue while you eat, and cover your table with a blue tablecloth. 5Studies find they encourage eating.

A. You might feel silly, but it works.

B. Therefore, adjust your eating habits.

C. Wash something thoroughly once a week.

D. That's all it takes to lose as many pounds as possible.

E. On the contrary, avoid red, yellow, and orange in your dining areas.

F. In other words, it reminds you of why you're trying to lose weight in the first place.

G. But you also know that most diets and quick weight-loss plans don't work as promised.
