【答案】On May 5th, Jacky Cheung came to Yangzhou, bursting with popularity. Recently, your class has held a heated discussion about the phenomenon of star worshiping. The opinions are different.

Some students are in favor of star worshiping. Nowadays, students bear heavy study burden and require necessary entertainment and relaxation. Students’ spare time can be made full use of and star worshiping can enrich our activities. Besides, we can know about the stars further and learn some excellent qualities from them.

On the other hand, others hold the opposite view. Lack of self-control makes students unable to concentrate on study. Star worshiping consumes too much energy, which is not beneficial to students’ physical and mental development. In addition, it is a waste of money and might cause economic pressure on parents.

Personally, star worshiping is acceptable. However, we should make it clear who are the real “heroes”. The real heroes are those who are making the most contributions to our society. As middle school students, we ought to learn from them. Only in this way can we become useful persons in the future.

【題目】閱讀理解。

While astronauts in space get to do many exciting things, they miss out on ordinary things that we all take for granted—being able to walk on firm ground, hanging out with family and digging into a slice of hot steaming pizza. Though not much can be done about the first two things, there may soon be a solution to the third one, thanks to this cool 3D pizza printer!

About a year ago, NASA offered $125,000 to Anjan Contractor, a 3D technology expert,to build a device(設(shè)備) that would allow astronauts to make pizza on demand. The mechanical engineer promised that his invention would produce pies in large quantities that looked, tasted and even smelled like pizza made in common ovens.

Late last year, the engineer presented a video of his first prototype(原型) that begins by creating a single slice of dough(面團(tuán)) that is cooked and printed at the same time. Then comes the tomato “sauce”—a mix of tomato powder, oil and water and finally, a protein slice that resembles cheese. While the video doesn't show the baking process, the inventor says that once the pizza is printed, it can be ready to be consumed in 7 seconds.

While the pie in the video looks delicious enough to attract any pizza lover, Anjan Contractor is far from ready for astronauts. That's because he still has to find a solution to make the food container in the printer last for 30 years. Though that may sound unrealistic, actually it is not.

Anjan Contractor believes that the only way thatis possible is that the water is removed from all the ingredients (配料) and then they are reduced to the powder form. This, as you can imagine, will not be so easy. But, while the printer may not be ready for space, it certainly looks ready enough for people on earth.Hopefully, NASA and Contractor will consider selling it to those not fortunate enough to go to Mars!

【1】Why does the author mention the things that astronauts in space cannot do?

A.To ask us not to take common things for granted.

B.To show they live a difficult life there.

C.To show their life is boring in space.

D.To introduce the topic of the text.

【2】NASA offered $125,000 to Anjan Contractor mainly to ________.

A.create some new type of 3D printer

B.a(chǎn)ttract more companies to work for NASA

C.help astronauts in space enjoy fresh pizza one day

D.produce pizza in large quantities to earn great profits

【3】The biggest challenge that Anjan Contractor is faced with now is probably that ________.

A.he has no money left to go on with his research

B.the pizza doesn't seem appetizing to pizza lovers

C.he has no way to make pizza that can last forthirty years

D.he cannot make the food container last for decades

【4】What's the best title of the passage?

A.NASA is trying its best to help astronauts eat better

B.Astronauts may soon be able to enjoy steaming hot pizza

C.NASA is working on making pizza for common people

D.A 3D pizza printer has been used to make pizza

【題目】The health problems about cloned animals , particularly those who appear healthy but have hidden illnesses or problems that appear unexpectedly later in life, have the potential to cause real risks to the safety of the food products from those animals. Ian Wilmut, a lead scientist involved in the creation of Dolly, the first cloned animal, has warned that even small imbalances in a clone’s hormone, protein, or fat levels could bring its milk or meat into danger.

As part of its risk assessment on animal cloning, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) concluded that milk and meat from cloned animals and their offspring (后代)are as safe to eat as products from conventional animals. The FDA further announced that it would not require food products from cloned animals or their offspring to be labeled as such.

Consumer watchdog groups pointed out that the FDA’s analysis was based on limited data supplied mainly from the cloning companies themselves. In addition, while food safety is an obvious concern of consumers, it is not the only issue that makes people uncomfortable with animal cloning. For example, surveys indicate that 63 percent of consumers would not buy food from cloned animals even if it were labeled as “safe”. Concerns about the morality of cloning, as well as concerns for animal welfare, lead a big majority of people to oppose cloning animals for food. However, these issues were not considered by the FDA. Without labels to identify cloned foods, consumers who oppose animal cloning would be forced to make purchases against their principles without knowing. Consumers have a right to know how their food is produced so they can make informed decisions about what they buy and what they feed their families.

1What is Ian Wilmut’s attitude towards food products from cloned animals?

A. Approving. B. Cautious.

C. Uncertain. D. Indifferent.

2What does the underlined word “such” in Paragraph 2 refer to ?

A. Safe. B. Expensive

C. Unsafe D. Conventional.

3We can learn from the last paragraph that _____.

A. consumers didn’t believe what the FDA said

B. the FDA took consumers’ concerns seriously

C. consumers were well-informed about the safety of food

D. the FDA forced consumers to buy things they didn’t want

4What is the main idea of the text?

A. Concerns for animal welfare.

B. The problems with animal cloning.

C. Why people are uncomfortable with animal cloning.

D. Concerns about the food products from cloned animals.

【題目】閱讀理解。

My color television has given me nothing but a headache. I was able to buy it a little over a year ago because I had my relatives give me money for my birthday instead of clothes that wouldn’t fit. I let a salesclerk fool me into buying a discontinued model. I realized this a day later, when I saw newspaper advertisements for the set at seventy-five dollars less than I had paid. The set worked so beautiful when I first got it home that I would keep it on until stations signed off for the night. Fortunately, I didn’t get any channels showing all-night movies or I would never have gotten to bed.

Then I started developing a problem with the set that involved static(靜電) noise. For some reason, when certain shows switched into a commercial, a loud noise would sound for a few seconds. Gradually, this noise began to appear during a show, and to get rid of it, I had to change to another channel and then change it back. Sometimes this technique would not work, and I had to pick up the set and shake it to remove the sound. I actually began to build up my arm muscles(肌肉) shaking my set.

When neither of these methods removed the static noise, I would sit helplessly and wait for the noise to go away. At last I ended up hitting the set with my first, and it stopped working altogether. My trip to the repair shop cost me $62, and the sit is working well now, but I keep expecting more trouble.

【1】 Why did the author say he was fooled into buying the TV set?

A. He got an older model than he had expected.

B. He couldn’t return it when it was broken.

C. He could have bought it at a lower price.

D. He failed to find any movie shows on it.

【2】 Which of the following an best replace the phrase “signed off” in paragraph 1?

A. ended all their programs B. provided fewer channels

C. changed to commercials D. showed all-night movies

【3】 How did the author finally get this TV set working again?

A. By shaking and hitting it B. By turning it on and off

C. By switching channels D. By having it repaired

【4】 How does the author sound when telling the story?

A. Curious B. Anxious

C. Cautious D. Humorous
