We have just climbed out of a spaceship onto the surface of the moon. Behind us is the ship, half in the sunlight and half in the deep shadow. A few miles ahead is a wall of mountains against the black sky. And there, as though resting on the mountains, is a great ball of light, beautifully coloured in blue and brown with a patch of dazzling white at the top. It is our own far-away world----the earth.

We take step and rise like prize jumpers-up, float and down again. Hopping (or jumping ) carefully, we explore the valleys, the sloping crater(火山口) walls, the shadowy crater floors.

Not a sound can be heard----there is no air to carry sound. No wind, there are no smells. There are no plants or animals. There is nothing but rock and dust, blinding sunlight and cold black shadows.

科目:高中英語 來源:2013屆山西省太原五中高三12月月考英語試卷(帶解析) 題型:閱讀理解

In the age of reality television, success isn’t the only way to the public eye. Failure can also create fame, just like William Hung, 21, a native of Hong Kong.
Hung recently has made an agreement with US-based entertainment firms Koch Records and Fuse Music Network. They will publish a full-length record, titled “The True Idol” on April 6.
The idol is a civil engineering student at the University of California at Berkeley. He did a version of Ricky Martin’s “She Bangs” on the television show “American Idol 3”, on January 27. The Fox TV singing contest searches for pop stars among ordinary people. In the case of Hung, however, his act was so bad that the judges cut him off in mid-act.
Hung’s response? “I already gave my best, so I have no regrets at all.” That’s good, because any common person would have found plenty to regret: The off-key singing. The blue Hawaiian shirt worn with pants pulled up too high. The terrible dancing. The hips jerking (搖擺) to a beat that did not belong to the song, maybe not even to this planet. It was, by all accounts, bad.
But, it was this very bad act that sold well.
Marc Juries, president of Fuse, explained it this way: “Every one of us is happily guilty of singing our favorite song at the top of our lungs with complete freedom, completely off-key and completely unworried. That’s what William did and immediately won the hearts of America.”
Whatever it is, for the moment it’s big. Three websites devoted to Hung have gone up on the Internet in the past few weeks. Versions of his performance have been remixed with hip hop and techno-music and have made it to the top 10 request list at a Chicago radio station.
So, what does Hung think of this?
“There were all these people saying things about me. A lot were saying I was very courageous and that I was great on the show, but some didn’t have much respect for me and some were kind of mean.”
Now he says he’s not so sure whether to distance himself from the glamour (魅力) or to accept it. Returning to normal hasn’t been easy.
【小題1】What is the main idea of this passage?

A.Sometimes an idol behaves quite foolishly.
B.Hung’s performance attracted the public eye.
C.How an unsuccessful person became famous.
D.Success sometimes does not require hard work.
【小題2】What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 7 refer to?
A.William Hung.B.Hung’s bad act.C.Hung’s website.D.The public’s opinion.
【小題3】Which of the following shows the correct order of what happened to Hung?
a. The entertainment firms made an agreement with Hung.
b. The judges cut Hung off in mid-act in the singing contest.
c. Hung became popular among Americans.
d. Hung gave a terrible performance though he tried his best.
e. Three websites put Hung’s funny performance on the Internet.
A.d, b, e, c, aB.a(chǎn), c, d, b, eC.a(chǎn), d, b, c, eD.d, b, a, e, c

科目:高中英語 來源:2012-2013學(xué)年天津市高考壓軸卷英語卷(解析版) 題型:閱讀理解

For the last couple of weeks, I had been stuck in front of my computer working on a project that was very important to me. My every waking hour was consumed by the project and although I imagined that I would feel happy after completing parts of the project, I was confused to find that instead, I was feeling rather depressed. I tried a range of methods to help cheer myself up. I had a relaxing bath, cooked a delicious meal to enjoy with my family and even watched a lighthearted movie, but to no avail. It was only when I turned to meditation(沉思)for a solution that the answer came to me: turn to nature!

The very next day, I grabbed my camera and a bottle of water and set off to spend a few hours walking in a nature reserve, even though it was pouring with rain. Within a couple of minutes I felt alive again. To be honest, I felt like a young school girl again and had to stop myself from hopping along the path singing, "I'm singing in the rain", a song I used to sing when I was a child. I think as adults we often try too hard to control our inner children and as a result we restrain(限制) our own spirits, which only leads to depression and stress.

Interestingly, it has been shown that people who spend 40 minutes walking in a nature reserve have a drop in their blood pressure levels, but this does not happen when they spend a similar amount of time walking in a busy city centre.

If you feel a little low in spirit and know that you have spent too much time indoors, relax completely, remove your shoes and let your inner child come out and play.

1.The author felt depressed because she __________.

A.couldn't consume her waking hour

B.had not seen a film for a long time.

C.had not finished her work on time

D.had worked on a hard job for too long

2.The author walked in a nature reserve in the rain in order to__________.

A.take photos                            B.find a solution to the project

C.hop along the path                      D.cheer herself up

3.The underlined part "to no avail" in Paragraph 1 probably means " __________.".

A.unsuccessful       B.unrelated         C.uninteresting       D.unexpected

4.In the author's opinion, __________.

A.a(chǎn) bath can make people relaxed

B.depression is usually caused by hard work

C.walking in a busy city centre harms people's health

D.a(chǎn)dults should express their inner feelings freely

5.The last paragraph mainly serves as a(n) __________.

A.explanation        B.suggestion         C.introduction       D.reminder
